Hey, Little One,
Hey, Little One,
Long time, no "see".
About three years ago, I went in for a routine physical. As my husband says, I failed all my tests... I must not have studied enough .
Not only did I find out that I had MVP at that time...I also found out about my cervical pre-cancer at the same time.
Anyway, we did the colposcopy, followed by the cold cone biopsy... (which was same-day surgery)...and wasn't all that bad, albeit a bit humiliating.
In my case, it didn't do the trick though, and I was eventually scheduled for a hysterectomy.
Of course, when I went to see the cardiologist to get cleared for the hysterectomy...he said, "I think you should put the hysterectomy on hold for a few months and take care of this little heart valve problem."
So...I had my mitral valve repair in May, and then the hysterectomy the following October. What a year!
You can take comfort in one fact that I kept hearing though, cervical cancer/pre-cancer is one of the slowest growing cancers that there is... so I would be very surprised if at your age it has spread any farther than your cervix, and hopefully, the cone will be the only procedure you will need.
For you, and anyone else with this type of problem, there is a site that is very similar to this one. You will find many more very kind helpful women, who know as much about these types of female problems as the folks here know about heart valves. It's called Hyster Sisters. Here's the link: http://www.hystersisters.com
Take care, and keep us updated, ok?
