Ross and Hensylee, I join you in being diseased. Just caught a cold from my mother. Her's seems to be much worse than mine though.

AND, tomorrow, see the surgeon for the first time, hoping to get his seal of approval to drive home.

(If you see a news item, "Deranged son trashes mother's house... details at 11", you'll know I'm still on the driverless list)

Nah, you'll be fine to drive so long as your not getting dizzy or passing out. See ya on the road roady! :)

Just go in with your head held high and say "I feel sooooo good" and maybe he won't notice your cruddy cold. Getting your wheels back is a major step in getting well - just ask all of us. Drive carefully and if it's far, rest a lot on the way. Then when you get home, go to your primary and get some good drugs for the cold. Then lay back and enjoy your own digs. Good luck.

Cruising...

Cruising...

Hi All,

BACK IN MY HOUSE!!! Doc was extremely happy with my progress. Said the "slipping" feeling I get in my sternum would go away over time. Can now lift 15 lbs, can work with light dumbblells and said I could do situps. Next month I can lift 25 lbs, and the month after, 150 (unrestricted). But I am OFFICIALLY a heart patient now... said all of my meds would now be at the descretion of my cardiologist (next appt and echo mid Sept.), EXCEPT he wants me to stay on asprin therapy permantly.

I picked up my daughter form camp yesterday (haven't seen her for a bit over a week (she is 12). As I was pulling out onto the highway, and turned my head back to look for a opeing in the traffic she commented, "you can really turn your head like that now without it hurting, Dad?" She was impressed.

AND guess who I saw in the waiting room as I was leaving... Gerry Dorrian. For those who don't know, Gerry I live both live in the Philly area, so we were discussing Drs. and hospitals online proir to surgery. We discovered we were having essentially same surgery at the same hospital, with the same surgeon, the same week. Our rooms were right across the hall from each other, and we were discharged only a few hours apart!!!.

Gerry looked great. His color was back and I hardly recognized him (street clothes as opposed to a hospital gown). Must be some Karma going on with us.

Now if only my chest would stop hurting!!! (must have sneezed over 50 times in the last two days and gone through two bags of cough drops... and just when I was down to 2 motrin a day.. oh well, just have to let it run its course.)

Sheesh let a guy go to the Doctor and he doesn't even tell us if he's allowed to drive now or not. What's wrong with this picture?

READ the post above , Ross. I needed some time to set up my computer at HOME!! Sheesh!!!

I bet we forgot to tell you about the evil sneezes, didn't we? But looks like you found out all by yourself. I didn't know either and thought I was going to die on the spot the first one I had! But with time - things heal.........

Hensylee,

I had my first "evil" sneeze two - three weeks ago. Came without warning at breakfast at a restaurant. I just doubled over whimpered "ow, ow, ow, ow, ow.."

These sneezes just hurt a little, but having a cuumulative (the proper spelling, ***lative, seems to have a sexual conatation associated with it) effect on my chest. 400 mg of motrin every 6 hours seems to help. After all I have been thru up to this point, I think I'll survive the cold.

We're twins now

We're twins now

David,
Turns out we didn't have "essentially the same surgery" we had exactly the same surgery.
After the surgery Dr. Bavaria told me that he had put in a great big tissue valve and the he didn't have to replace the aortic root. I assumed that I still got a porcine valve but I was wrong.
I'm sure that this is a good thing, but I feel a bit out of it, not knowing this for a month. I guess wasn't processing information too well while I was in the hostpital.
I also had a good check up. It certainly was good to see you and to see that you were doing so much better.

For some reason, I can still picture you two raising He** with the staff and wheel chair racing after midnight. :D

There's an accupressure point for sneezes. Take your finger and place it right under your nose on your upper lip and press as hard as you can when you feel a sneeze coming on. Hold it there until the feeling leaves. It works most of the time.

It'll save you a few ouchies, anyway.

Gerry,

Do I note a bit of plagerism in your signature?????????
