How are our members in Washington State and Oregon..Saw you were snowed, iced in??? Johnny? Got power....It is sooo cold here in Ga..18 degrees last few mornings...Chicago members???Heard yall were cold too.....Had to drive my Grandson down to corner this morning to catch school bus. He was bundled up..like he lived up North:D :D :D Hat, gloves, scarf, ect. Said the bus was cold..Only has to ride bus for 30 minutes.:p How do you Mom's up North handle them going outside so early? Took him 5 minutes to put on coat, ect. :p Beautiful full moon here on My Mountain tonight..but sooo cold. Just had temps in 70's a few days ago..Have sore throat..but gargle with warm..salt water.every a.m. and goes away soon..Bundle up everyone.:p Bonnie

It's cold here too, 12 this morning. Layers of clothing is the answer to keeping warm, and a hat is a must, mittens are warmer than gloves, a scarf keeps cold air from getting inside your coat from the neck area and you can pull it up high on your neck. Lots of moms here drive their kids to the bus stop and wait in the car for the bus.

Had to laugh at my Grandson. He has to wear light uniforms to school..so he had on a tee shirt. long sleeve shirt..even put his Dad's pull-over neck scarf..Yes..I buy mittons..he had those on too.:p ...I will not be there to drive him Friday (spends every Wednesday night with my daughter. she drives him to school on Thursdays)..so Daddy will have to call him 15 min. early Friday..just to get on those clothes to walk a short walk to bus stop:p But..believe we may have snow on Friday. If there is a dusting..they will call schools off.:p :p :p But, our crazy weather in South..may be back in 70's next week.:p Bonnie

Dear Granbonny,

The best part of bundling kids up for the cold weather up here is that when they are preschoolers and early grade school it takes 5-10 minutes to bundle them all up, then they spend 10-15 minutes outside only to come in for a half hour and then want to go out again. I can laugh about it now but it wasn't always funny when our 4 children were little. Ha! Ha!

Just watching the weather report and it looks like some minus signs in the next few days. I'll have to break out the ski mask for my early morning dog walk, so my face doesn't freeze.

It's soooooooo cold. So much you need to keep your mouth covered. It hurts to breath in. Can't be healthy. We live too close to the school for bus service....so we walk. It's a about a block and a half. Seems like a mile as of late. Physcially, I check out A ok...so it's cold harsh old man winter.

Looking forward to our vacation in the sun! Won't come soon enough;)

COLD? COLD? Tuesday morning the temperature was -10 in the suburb I live in, with wind chills of -25 to -30 below! Went to work and had to face the Wonderful Windy City! Dressed in so many layers I could hardly move! Had two scarfs on and because my glasses were fogging up, could hardly see! Got off the bus at Michigan Ave and Jackson Blvd. Started walking down Jackson and my eyes started tearing, then froze on the spot! I only had to walk a block and a half to get to Wabash, but that turned out to be even worse. The subway runs on Wabash and it creates a wind tunnel under normal conditions. That day the wind was just so brutal! Not complaining:D ( Yes I am!) Remember when I was in my early teens,in the winter the real temperature would be -20 and the wind chill was -35 to -40 below! Being a teenager though, I could handle it a lot better than I do now! Just thought I'd share!

Doesn't seem cold to me - that's cause the doc is tapering me off Toprol and for the first time in a long time, my hands and feet are relatively warm - boy that's nice. Toprol also can cause some vivid dreams and I sorta miss those, it was better that satellite TV. My dreams now are all in black and white and most of them are reruns. Maybe I'll get a TIVO for dreams so I can save the best ones. Any one else have this experience with Toprol? The only good thing is that Toprol sure did quiet things down at night and sleep came easier with a little more subdued ticking - the natures sounds cd helps too. Chris

Australia is the second place on my list of "love to see" places, after Ireland. I met someone who lived there for years and his description of it made it seem like he lived in the city of Perfect. But it sounds a wee bit on the hot side right now, tho yesterday I would have loved to feel some of that warmth.

Bonnie, if it's going to be that cold up north, what about you and me? We have sprinkly rain all night and new cold arriving right behind it.

Wow is it cold here. Nancy, I'm glad I'm not in your neck of the woods, but then I guess 12 or 18 doesn't make too much difference. The wind chill factors are what are supposed to hit us this weekend.....negative numbers. So much for Long Island being surrounded by water and warmer.......ARGGGGGHHHH!!!!

STAY WARM ALL!!

It was -11 this morning when I brought Joe for his Protime test. Just got back from walking the dog, she was double coated and had her boots and suspenders on, I had my snorkle hood, down parka and a heavy vest, with my Timberland boots and gloves inside mittens. We could have walked longer, we were not too bad off, considering, but have other things to do.

I guess it's supposed to be like this for a few days.

Now, that's cold!

Do you keep your car in garage? How long for it to get warm? Ugly day here. 34..cloudy, ..Plan to stay inside all day and wait for tomorrow when the sun comes out again. Bonnie

The cars are garaged. It probably takes about 5 minutes before I can turn the heater on.

Well, the sun's out, but not much help. It's still showing -5 degrees.

I think I'll go back to my furniture refinishing project and stay inside.

Hi All

Haven't been on in a bit---running around yesterday doing errands, cardio appt, vet appt, etc....but that's for another thread.

Anyway, the temp here on good old LI is 7.2......luckily we don't have too much wind, which is really a Godsend.....Last night it was a whopping 3.

Break out those soups and stews!!!!
