My prescription for that doctor is to have him take a drug test himself. Docs can be addicts. Would be good to know how he does with that.
In my last town two well known doctors (also husband & wife) were heroin addicts and I've heard that one of them was a dealer. They seperated about 2 years ago and she ended up committing suicide about 4 days after shaving all her hair off.

I guess it just goes to show they're people with screwed up lives like the rest of us. I try to remember that everytime a doctor starts to give me the "holier than thou" routine.

I guess I am lucky because last week my doctor office called me and said it had been nine months since my last visit. Friday I go in for a supra steranl notch view (echo) to see the aortic arch. Next week I get chest x-rays and see the doctor. The last fifth teen months my heart has felt normal. Like all of us I am a little bite nervous about my doctor visit. When the time comes for my surgery I hope I can plan it for the summer.

Most doctors by the vast majority, are kind, caring, thorough and do whatever they can to help. And we appreciate the wonderful doctors that take care of us both. Joe, for sure, wouldn't be here if it weren't for the excellence of all of his doctors.

He's had a few clunkers, but they are way in the past.

Kim has had the most extraordinary bad luck with clunkers.

I hope she will find an excellent doctor. It will make all the difference.

Nancy, et al.

Thank you. I'll send a note to the surgeon with a pink slip.

This resort island definitely has a history of cover-ups, bribes and drug addicts in the medical field and elsewhere. CBS' "60 Minutes" could do a story!

Yeah.

Thanks again for the support. I love you guys.

As with ANY profession, you are always going to get the good and the bad.... and unfortunately it always seems like they try to deny it and cover for the bad seeds rather than getting rid of them (..doctors, cops, government workers, priests, plumbers, etc, etc, etc....).

I guess the only way to overcome it is to make sure we don't use the bad guys and recommend the good guys.

Good that you gave the nut the boot! I once had a doctor ask if I was on speed because of my teeth(very soft, lost all of them in my 20's).And I even had an ob/gyn sugguest that I wait untill I was married to be sexually active.A bit off the topic I suppose but heck...nice to know other''s have had kooky doctors too!

Yep, there are some good ones. . .I was told stress was causing my recurrent fevers (ultimately diagnosed with endocarditis).

I had no prior history of heart conditions--nothing. So when I showed up with those high fevers and obnoxious night sweats and all, my regular PCP drew what had to be half a gallon of blood for various tests and cultures (in the middle ages this would have counted as "curative bloodletting," I remember thinking...) and when the tests came back, his best guess was "possibly Leukemia," and one or two other blood-related maladies. I was in fact severely anemic--but I also had that huge strep viridans infection causing my endocarditis, which is what was causing the anemia. It was actually the hematologis/oncologist he sent me to who heard my (by that time, AWFUL) heart murmur and made the endocarditis diagnosis. After spending all week thinking I had Leukemia, I must say the heart valve diagnosis was a bit of a relief, so I suppose I can't be too mad at my PCP...

You guys are killing me with laughter and tears -- not a bad thing.

BTW, the surgeon is from Indiana, not around here where I live. I would NEVER consider surgery locally ... my family said I'll be flown out if I ever need any kind of procedure, etc.

Rock on,
