Did anyone on the board take Claritin after OH surgury? My husband is on cardarone, coumadin, ambien, potassium supliments, lasix, protonix and lopressor and just came home today. I forgot to ask if he could take it. Anyone had this expieriene? He is weezing and having what seems like his normal allergy attacks and also has a small fever (99.1). And he is fine when he is sitting up but when he gets in bed he weezes really bad. This will probably be one of my many little freak outs. Any feedback would be great. :)

I take Claritin with no issues, but since he's been through so much, I'd just give a quick call to his doctor to see if it's okay if he takes it. Go ahead and call the dr's service and ask for a return call - let the doc earn his high fee.:)

I have taken Claritin for years prior and after. I don't think that I started it again for a week or so after surgery. With that list of meds, I'd check with the doc before adding anything else to the mix. I'd check into the weezing right away also. Don't mess with it. Have him keep up with the breathing exercises.

I take Claritin in season. No issues.

Agree with the others. Give the doc a call. At this time of year it may be more viral or bacterial than anything. Especially with the fever.

No problems with Claritin by like all the others, that wheezing is concern enough to make a call to the Doc. Rule out CHF.

thanks for the replies

thanks for the replies

We called the doctor and they said its okay to take Claritin and since he had the same symptoms before the surgury it is nothing to worry about..

Thanks so much!!

My first indication that "something wasn't right" after I came home from the hospital was that I could NOT sleep unless I was propped up. Not because I wasn't comfortable, but because I couldn't breathe, I felt like I was suffocating. Turns out I had a mild pleural effusion, mild CHF and a pericardial effusion. Don't wait 5 days to call the doctor like I did.....and 7 days to see him......Even if it turns out to be nothing, you'll know what's going on and the doctor can intervene quickly if necessary.

Chf?

Chf?

CHF is congestive heart failure, right? Just making sure...We have a home nurse here today so she is also going to check his lungs to make sure all is okay...
