I've come back and read the initial post about 15 times today, but each time the shock left me without anything to say. My sincerest condolances to your family.

While reading the wonderful tributes on the links, it is obvious Cindy was a beautiful soul who will be sorely missed. She made a solid place in our hearts during her short time as a VR.com member. Although we all know the risks, small though they may be, it is still a shock to hear of such a tragic loss.

Amen.

My thoughts/prayers with Cindy's family.

And, ya know ... the tributes as well as the posts here reiterate to me that "online families", despite what some may say, are real families. Yes, you may not always meet in person (though, I've met many people from all of my forums/groups) ... but, you always have that connection, regardless.

Loss Of "Shambles"

Loss Of "Shambles"

What sad news. I always loved her screen name here. I remember feeling my whole life was a shambles after being diagnosed. I admired Cindy for choosing such a telling name. I will miss her too. I am grateful to know she is gone as I would've worried and wondered where she was. I am also grateful for this chance to know so much more about her. My thanks to her family. Ironically, I didn't used to feel that way. I always thought that "online friends" weren't really real ... that, somehow, whatever connections you made were just "fantasies" you drew up in your own head....

But, then I started meeting people ... not only from VR.com, but from all of my various Monte Carlo and auto enthusiast boards. I quickly realized that the people on the other end of the screen ... the same people that had a certain board name without a voice or face (in most cases, anyway) ... WERE real. And, as I met people, it was so interesting to see the other interests/similarities we have in common.
