Fred, I'm not American, so take this with a grain of salt. I think Trump is an *****, but I think he's the lesser of two evils. As for Cheney, I don't even think he even apologised to the guy he shot.

On a funny note, my dad went hunting with a couple of friends. They came back with a couple of rabbits and bullett holes in the car. Old guys LOL.

You couldn't do that around Chicago. In Chicago, if you bring a car into a body shop for repair of bullet holes, they are required to file a police report.

A couple of 22s dented the roof. They were resting the rifles on the car roof as they were taking the shots. I refused to go hunting with him. Him and his friends were walking disasters. They were half tanked most of the time.

As a teenager my father blew off half his foot after the shotgun went off as he was bending down. A few years after that he found some old gunpowder and ended up in hospital with burns. You'd think he'd learn, but nope. Anyway, he's 78 now and potters around the house complaining about everything. Eventually, they'll take his driving licence away as well. I think he's getting Alzheimer's, but a part of me doesn't want it confirmed.

"'Who the **** would want to steal it anyway?"

When we first married we lived in a quiet suburb where I guess the cops didn't have enough to do. I had a rustbucket 1978 Firebird - I'm telling you thing was on its last legs. Drivers side door didn't open so you had to climb over the gear shift to get in, you could easily have ripped the quarter panels off with your bare hands, and half the time it stalled at a light and I had to hop out with a coat hanger, wrench open the hood and poke the choke open with a stick. So I sold it for $200 to the deli clerk at the Stop and Shop. Next day 7:00 am on a Saturday the phone tings. It's the Wilton police department.

COP: Do you own a 1978 Firebird?
ME: I did but I sold it yesterday.
COP: You SOLD it?
ME: Yeah to the deli guy at Stop and Shop.

Turns out they pulled deli guy over and he had a record, so they thought he stole . . . that . . . car.

I'm sure that you would be unable to find a body shop in Chicago that would fail to uphold the law...

I worry about anyone I know who lives there ...

CHICAGO — Not a single gun shop can be found in this city because they are outlawed. Handguns were banned in Chicago for decades, too, until 2010, when the United States Supreme Court ruled that was going too far, leading city leaders to settle for restrictions some describe as the closest they could get legally to a ban without a ban. Despite a continuing legal fight, Illinois remains the only state in the nation with no provision to let private citizens carry guns in public.

It wouldn't be hard to patch a hole with some filler and paint.

Pel has touched on a topic that gets me worked up. I'm a firm believer that people should have the right to bear arms.
I've been following closely the desire some have in America to disarm law-abiding citizens, because there are people here in Australia with the same agenda.
I think Obama is a nice guy, but he's got this thing about blaming mass-murder on people who.... something about the Second Amendment.
I have a ******* right to defend my home and family, from any scum-bag who wishes me harm.
There, I said it.

Another Aussie here and I agree that changing the gun laws in the US will do more harm than good. One more step toward totalitarian rule. 2016? More like 1984...

I myself am a terrible shot, best I steer clear!

I think our American brothers and sisters are starting to get used to our quirkiness. There's not a lot that separates us, with the exception that they're more religious than us.
