Health and long life to you
Land without rent to you
The woman of your choice to you
A child every year to you
A long life, and may you die in Ireland!

May there always be work for your hands to do
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

Walls for the wind
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks beside the fire-
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire!

May those that love us, love us.
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles
So we will know them by their limping.

May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light
May good luck pursue you each morning and night

May you live all the days of your life, and
May the saddest day of your future be no worse
Than the happiest day of your past!

HAPPY ST PADDY'S DAY TO YA!

I just remembered, my oldest son was there a year ago. He of course had a few beers to celebrate!

Have a great day!!!

Heather

Wishing you a happy day!

Though, I once recall Billy tellin' me Americans make a bigger deal out of it than the Irish;)

Pretend you are hearing me singing this to you:

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday Dear Billy
Happy Birthday to you
And many, many more!

Charmin Billy....

Charmin Billy....

Who can resist a thread titled, "Charmin Billy"??! :D

Happy St. Patrick's Day Mr. Billy!! :D :D

Did I see that there was gonna be a 'green beer chat' somewhere tonight? When is it?? What time?

Billy how silly am I? I meant to say:

Happy St. Patrick's Day, not Happy Birthday. I think sometimes I'm brain dead! Anyhoo, HAVE A GREAT ST. PATRICK'S DAY! Are you wearing green?

Cead mille failte.....

Cead mille failte.....

I waited till midnight Irish time....so it's now 17th here...

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY TO ONE AND ALL

Gina's quite right....In USA y'all go crazy about St Patrick's day but here in Ireland it's not such a big occasion. In fact it's only recently that it became an official holiday.

We have no green rivers, or green fountains...don't even have green beer and putting green colouring in Guinness just doesn't work, it's stays black.

Dublin has a big parade on 17th March, (that's in a different country you see as I live in Northern Ireland which is still ruled by the Brits) which is a bit confusing cause I can drive about twenty miles north and see Slemish Mountain where St. Patrick was a shepherd and Slemish is well and truly in the North.

Being considered to be a very religious country, a lot of folks stop partaking of the evil alcohol for lent. The main significance of 17th March is that they are allowed that day off....as a sort of amnesty. Problem is that most get a few too many and so 18th March is 'hangover' day.

On a religious note, I wish you all the inscription on St Patrick's breastplate which is as follows.....

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

Ohhhhh....the heading at the top, Cead mille failte means 'A hundred thousand welcomes' - It's a greeting here and is pronounced...Seed mee-la fault-ya. Now y'all can really impress your neighbours....haha

Slainte (Cheers...) and as the rather morbid folks say around these parts...May y'all be in heaven a half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

Well Charmin Billy............................................................

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!

I don't have a Guiness at the moment but I'll toast ya with a Miller Lite. No, I didn't dye it green! :D

The Chicago River will be Green tomorrow though! :D

Hope everyone has a great St, Patricks day! I don't even have to wear green, green is the color of my eyes!

Loved the inscription!

Hey Billy,

There are two quite genuine Irish pubs within a couple of blocks of each other here in downtown Denver. One was actually built in Ireland and shipped over here in modules. When you're here for the reunion I think we should have a Guiness or Bushmill's at both! Hope you had a great St. Patty's Day.

Paul

Two Irish Pubs.......wow

Two Irish Pubs.......wow

What a good idea Mr PillarPaul. If I make the reunion, which is very much in the balance at the moment as it's 14th October and the winter (cheap) airfares don't start till 15th, we'll do just that.

Imagine, two Irish pubs so close together...bet there's a flower shop nearby as well, then everybody will be happy....

Hope you are having a good St. Patrick's day too...have a Bushmills on me.

Slainte

I heard it from the best of authority on Ancestors.com that the very first Irish ancestor to come the U.S. was a fellow named patio furniture. He sure left a lot of descendants ! :p Have a good one Billy

Thanks everybody.......

Thanks everybody.......

....for your St. Patrick's Day good wishes...

It's almost over here in Ireland....less than two hours to go so........

Three chairs for Patio Furniture.....right Chris?

Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig duit

Cheers,

Heard a short bio on St Patrick today - he was not what we all think! He didn't get the snakes out; he didn't feed the poor during the potato famine, etc. He was religious but flaky so his church tried to show him the door. The one great thing he did do was to bring literacy to the Irish people. The Druid priests wanted to keep literacy to themselves, but St Paddy taught the people to read and write.
