Joann & I have been quickly researching the room availablity and cost. Imperial Palace is sold out. Gold Coast (not on the strip, but free shuttle, Orleans (same) have good rates. Treasure Island and Harrah's have rooms and are almost reasonable.

I highly recommend that we make a decision on the general location very soon. It is not necessary that we all stay in the same casino, but it would be much better if we are in the general area.

Please provide feedback ASAP.

I agree that it is important for the group to have a headquarters hotel. As a seasoned, business conference attendee for 20 years, I can attest to the problems and inconveniences involved in shuttling to and fro. I quickly learned that staying at less costly places than the headquarters hotel exacted a high cost in time and money for transportation, and frustration. Al and I will have to stay at the conference hotel, or we can not attend. After his recent hospitalization, his energy level is quite low.

Have you tried the Frontier Hotel? We stayed there last September for a reunion of the US Air Force First Radio Squad. It is a no frills place, but quite comfortable, clean, and convenient.
Our rates were $59. for a single/double, and $79. for a small suite. You also may want to check with people who already have reservations. Generally, it's suggested that reservations be made at least 6 months in advance for groups.

It's so nice of you to take this task. What ever you decide will be fine with us. Of course, room rates will be a consideration. I did check rates for Ceasars Palace. The $200+ rate for week-end nights gave me great pause.

With kind regards,
Blanche

We have decided to stay at Treasure Island. There is a large convention in town. You need to book rooms NOW. Many are already sold out. I think that you can get a refund on your room without a problem.

We are going for the four days FIRM!!!!!!!!

Decision Coming!

Decision Coming!

Michelle will be deciding on a definate place for the meetings and such this next week. Before this time next week, we will at least have a place for all to consider.

There is zero chance of coming up with a place that is good for all, so we will decide and the rest can adjust as needed.

Oh the joys of being the founder :)

Hi Joann!

Looking forward to meeting the both of you. If you don''t mind me asking, what type of rate did you receive at Tresure Island?

Hank, I liked Billy's idea with the poll to track member attendance. It may aide in planning your metting space/dinner.

I have stayed at the Lady Luck several times. It is downtown, a few miles from the Strip. The rates are resonable and the gambling is good. It is very near the bus terminal which can take you to the Strip or any other place in Vegas The downside is that the casino is relatively small and smoke-filled and the buffet is not very good.

Hank, Lady Luck sounds fine to us. I will reserve a room as soon as I can.
We will be driving to Nevada and leave early Thursday morning. It is about 8-10 hours from here. Gordon will go on to Pahrump which is an hour from Vegas, but will drop me off at the hotel first. He will join us a day or so later.

Sounds like a plan. Great work Michelle:D.

Chances are we will be staying on the strip. The hubby was able to factor a business meeting into the trip. Figures. Good for that tax advantage though. Can't complain.

See you all there.

Joann and I have found rooms in Downtown. We will be about 1 block from Lady Luck. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Lost Wages.

God Bless!

Downsides

Downsides

No matter where we would have picked, there would be downsides involved.

I will post a poll to see how many people are planning on attending.

Out of 440 people on the forum, I would hope that we can get at least 50 folks there! That would be a pleasant surprise.

The rates at the Lady Luck are so good we didn't really see any need for a group rate thing, but I could still look into it if I ever had the time.

Ok, off to start the poll...
