You guys got drugs for your cath?! My doctor doesn't believe in giving them for a cath, just a local. But, we had a great conversation about music, guitar players, and such while he worked.

And. . . I thought I was being bad for only waiting three weeks, but me AND my wife couldn't wait any longer:D

The worst part of the cath for me was not the procedure itself (I was also doped up so I would relax), but afterwards when I could not bend my leg for 6 hours to make sure the artery in the groin didn't start spurting out blood. I have a weak bladder to begin with, and after the cath, they had me on an IV drip to make sure I had lots of liquid to dilute the dye they used. I will not go into details about what happened, but it was not one of my best days!!

I was watching it on the overhead monitor and my heart rate was approx 120 and the doctor conducting it says you seam a bit nervous, what sort of question is this? It's not everyday that you see a catheter approaching your heart on screen. He then says give him a bit more medazlin (versed) to relax him. :)

Ok, About the intimacy thing. Did no one else get the book? LOL. I got a book with an animated cartoon type heart, saying it's important to hug and caress but to take it easy. It was hysterical, I gotta try to find it. ;)
YES! I totally got that book. I don't remember if they gave it to me when my mom was still there, or after she left. Either way, my mom and I had a HUGE laugh over that book when I got home. (Yes, I was married at the time) I still have that book somewhere around here. Just couldn't part with it. ;)

As for getting intimate prior to leaving the hospital, that would have been impossible. My mother was having a hard time letting go (the surgery was 1 year after I had gotten married) and ended up staying in the hospital with us! So both my husband and my mother were there with me 24/7. Actually, I guess it was 24/9, since that's how many days I spent in the hospital. My husband actually ended up leaving a couple of times just to have a break from my mom!

Of course, fat lot of good having two people around did me. One night I needed something (I don't remember for the life of me what it was) and kept calling out to both of them, but neither of them would wake up. I even tried to throw my pillow at my husband (he was closest) and only succeeded in hurting myself. I started to cry and I think that's when my mom finally woke up.

Wow Deb, this was one of the funniest posts on here in awhile :) Perhaps your cardio just has a sense of humor. Honestly, I will say that my surgery center provided us with handouts (also go the same handouts at my 1st cardiac rehab session) that said resuming intimate activity with ones' spouse is OK when it's comfortable for YOU but to avoid it with strangers, or words to that effect, because of the higher excitement/fear level? What the??? Anyway just my two cents :) Glad to see you're feeling ok overall. :)

Deb,
My husband had a vasectomy without any problems. He went in on a Friday and went back to work on Monday. He said there was a little discomfort and he walked a little funny for a few days but it is no big thing compared to OHS! So, lets see now, I haven't had my surgery yet and just what do I tell my husband about sex afterwards??? :D ;)
