I donr know why here they don't use St.Jude ?

My friend get this one(Carbomedics Reduced) 7 years ago.
It's all good but..

Anybody have this aortic valve or know something about it ?

From a Google search for "st jude heart valve pivot guard", I found:
  • The pivot guard design enables a consistent opening angle, which promotes laminar flow through the orifice
  • The pivot guard design minimizes leaflet flutter
  • The pivot guard design helps shield the pivot mechanism from pannus ingrowth"
I think these are useful benefits, but minor.

I found the following info about the Carbomedics:

https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/medicine-and-dentistry/carbomedics-prosthetic-heart-valve

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15746631/

500,000 Carbomedics valves have been implanted as of 2004!

I have a Carbomedic top hat aortic valve.
My surgeon, D Craig Miller MD (now retired) was one of the best. He chose this valve for me for both of my surgeries.
The first Carbomedic valve had to be replaced due to bacterial endocarditis damaging the tissue around the valve only 8 1/2 yrs after placement. So, for my 3rd surgery, Dr Miller also chose that same Carbomedic top hat valve for me in 2009. It was placed inside a hemashield graft then sewn into place, replacing by both my old valve (00) and graft (‘89).

Good morning

I am little disappointed. I expected St jude or On-X.

I would wonder if you suspected that there was only these valves? I have the ATS valve and basically the ATS and your valve are more or less derived from the St Jude but more closely resemble it than the On-X (also derived from the St Jude) does. Myself I'd be more inclined to be happy with that than getting the On-X

and welcome to the other side.

Please do focus now on the Anti Coagulation Therapy (ACT) because proper INR management is what really matters (far far more than which mech valve).

Best Wishes
