And maybe later we could all meet up for lunch at the Heat Attack Grill in Tempe, AZ and have a "Quadruple Bypass Burger". An estimated to be 8000 calories...

At least you'll be getting your vegetables with this burger. Lettuce, tomato, onion>

This is a "Hank Burger", which is 8" tall burger from a place called Hank's, in Hyattsville, MD. If I wasn't a vegetarian and didn't care about clogging my arteries I might go for this; it sure looks tasty. But after seeing all the folks in the cardiac unit in the hospital getting bypasses I think I'll pass on it. I got this picture on a postcard in the mail. Starting from the top, it has bun, fried onion ring, bacon, cheddar cheese, burger, fried onion ring, bacon, cheddar cheese, burger, tomato, lettuce, and bun. Not sure how anyone would fit all 8" into their mouth. Guess you'd have to take a knife and fork to it. The postcard says its $5 during happy hour 3 - 7 p.m. The $10 off deal requires at least a $30 tab.

Not trying to say that all Americans eat huge portions or anything like that, so don't jump on me for this...BUT...we went to the States 4 years ago and couldn't believe the size of the servings when we ate out...it was incredible. My two boys had trouble getting through one meal when they shared it, cos that's what we ended up doing, getting them one to share, otherwise it was just a waste of money and food.
One morning we went to breakfast at Mimi's Cafe just across the road from Disneyland and my then 7 year old ordered a pancake stack. I specifically said to the waitress can we have a child's portion, yeah that was fine....it came out and there were 6 pancakes covered with butter and maple syrup with bacon on the side:eek::eek:. Needless to say, he ate about a quarter of the meal and was struggling.

Restaurants and cafes over here serve much smaller portions.
Just an observation:)

What you say is true about portion sizes. If my wife and I are behaving, we take half home and have another meal for the next day.

Mimi's is one of our faves though. At least the one near us is very good. They have a big ole hamburger there, very delicious, but I don't order it because it is so big and it just doesn't work to keep for long because of all of the stuff on it. However, they also have Just Enough Dinners which are smaller portions.

Corrineinwa:
I have heard about this place, which is almost in my backyard, but have never been there. But then, I would rather milk the cows than eat them.
Gosh, I just don't know how anyone person could eat that much saturated fat....But, to everyone who wants to try, come on over and Al and I will be glad to accompany you...and watch.

Do you suppose they have any special salads for folks like me?

Kind regards,
Blanche
