Gisele,
I was so so glad to hear that your waiting is finally coming to an end. Like Ross, I felt that this would be the best move for you. Saying continual prayers for you and wishing you the best of God's blessings.

Karlynn

Hi Gisele,
You will be in my thoughts and prayers, I am glad thigs are moving along. You will have lots of prayers hang in HFK

Hi Gisele,

Gosh, I am releived for you!

Seems you still have a few crucial decisions to make.

Few questions for your doctors could be

1 Since this surgery is a " subsequent surgery" what are the chances of acquiring A-fib or another post op arrhythmia that would require anticoagulation?

2. If I were to have an arrhythmia and require anticoagulation with the tissue valve. Would there be other alternatives for anticoagulation that would not cause me harm?

I tend to think too much Gisele. I would be asking those
questions. Have a feeling there is not a definitive answer.

Did they rule out 100% that you cannot take Coumadin. Even staying at a lower therapeutic range. I would hate to see you have a perfectly good functioning valve replaced.

Hang in there. We will be praying for you kiddo. Keep us posted

Gisele,

I am glad that they have finally come up with a plan. I just wanted to let you will be in my thoughts and prayers until we hear from you after surgery.

Take care and God bless,

Thanks

Thanks

Thank you all for your support.

Christine I am thinking of you today hoping all goes well.

Gina, my doc and I have discussed the fact if I ever develop A-fib, but right now we have to deal with the issues at hand, and that is my bleeding apparently didn't happen in one day. It was oozing over a period of time from the Coumadin. We are hopeful that if I ever develop a-fib that a newer drug will be out by then that will be suitable for me.

My doctor does not want me back on Coumadin, and neither do the neurosurgeons in Boston.

I am glad that this is happening so quickly so I won't have time to dwell on it.

I will ask my daughter to post for me after the surgery so that you can be updated. I hope she remembers to do so..........:)

Gisele,

Boy was I glad to see your update....:)

Sounds like "the ball is rolling" so to speak and hopefully everything will go well with your surgery.
Just take everything one day at a time (just like you've been doing) and I'm confident you'll be just fine....NAW....you'll be terrific!! :D

Take care and relax. Soon all this *stuff* will be behind you.

:) HUGS:)

Gisele,

Just want you to know I will also be thinking of you. After all this time waiting it's great to know things will be resolved so quickly. Best of luck. I know you will come through this and feel so much better to have it over with!

Heather

Hey there Bonnie

Hey there Bonnie

Just because I will be gone for a week or so doesn't excuse you from sending me jokes! I expect my mailbox to be full when I get home....................lol

Thanks ladies for your good wishes. :)

Gisele:

Good luck next week. Like everyone else, I'll be thinking of you.

While you're in the hospital, send someone to the North End and get some GOOD food. You know how hospital food can be and how the taste buds can kinda go haywire. And for dessert -- something from Mike's Pastry on Hanover Street.

Come to think of it, that's worth flying from DFW to Boston Logan for...

I LOVE Mike's pastry. It is a real special treat for me to go there. However, I also know how I lose my appetite after surgery. My first valve surgery I lost 25 lbs. My burr hole I only lost close to ten but regained a few of that back. If I lose too much weight I will need a whole new wardrobe and I will be too tired to shop!

NEMC is in Chinatown, so maybe if I get a craving for chinese (but that is the usually my last pick of foods.............I love Italian)!

Thanks for the nice thoughts.

Gisele

Best of luck to you on Tuesday. We will all be thinking of you and sending you lots of good wishes.

That was quick!

That was quick!

Best wishes, Gisele!! I'll be thinking of you!

Stay positive!!

Dear Gisele - I have just caught up to your latest - Next Tuesday? YOu won't have to ponder very much and you have been there before so you know the ropes. You are in my prayers. Things have been tough for you for awhile, but maybe this will fix things again. If I could get you some pastry from Mike's , it'd be at your bedside when you wake up (you wouldn't want it then, tho)

Gisele,
Good Luck next week. It will be great for you to get everything straightened out so you won't have to worry about being off the coumadin and having the artifical valve. Take Care

Gisele - Glad its starting to happen for you finally. You know we'll all be thinking about you and praying for a successful surgery. we all look forward to hearing the good news in a few days. Chris

Gisele

I know a way to keep your mind off the surgery and you are doing it. Work on your house and do those things that you have been putting off for the past year. I sort of took this idea to heart and planned a whole list of things to dowhich included building a new garage, painting the lower floor and then up and sold the house and moved three days before surgery. that sure kept my mind busy. It all worked out and you will also. Good Luck!
