Gisele

After sitting here for three months waiting for something to happen things are beginning to move quite quickly. My ties were severed with Mass. General Hospital and I am now dealing with New England Medical Hosp.

Before going away for the weekend to de-stress I was booked with the neurosurgeon and the chief cardiac thoracic surgeon for Sept. 11th. When I got back home for my weekend there was a message on my machine telling me it was moved up to 11/5.

I am concerned over the urgency to moving me up like that, but I will find out on Wednesday. I know the cardiac surgeon is very concerned over the fact that I am not anti coagulated and haven't been so for three months now. I think I have to be prepared that he might want to book me quickly for the replacement of my mechanical valve with a tissue valve.

I will keep you all posted when I know something. I haven't had much of a chance to get onto the boards lately as I have been working (at home-but nevertheless working anyhow). I will try to post on Wed. night if I have any news from my two visits.

Hey Gisele,
Glad to hear they have things moving for you. I know everything will turn out for the best. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Take Care

Dave

Hi Gisele!

So happy to hear from you. Waiting is the WORST part! Wishing you all the best. Please keep us posted on your progress.

Take good care

Hi Gisele,

IMHO I think the sooner they get you fixed and off this roller-coaster ride the better off you will be. You know you are in my prayers daily until this is all behind you!

Thanks so much for the update.

Hi Gisele,
So glad to hear from you. Hoping that all this stressful waiting is going to produce answers that bring you comforting news.

Hi Gisele-

You don't know how happy I am to see your post. Haven't seen you for so long, and was a little worried. I am glad things are moving along. This has really got to have some closure for you. It's been too stressful for too long.

Best wishes.

Hang in there, Gisele! You are one tough cookie to bear up like this under what must be very anxious times for you. Your upbeat outlook should help you out a lot.

Here's hoping for helpful answers this week...

Thanks everyone

Thanks everyone

The past few weeks have been extremely stressful for me and so I have been trying to keep busy doing work for my accounts. Today the painters are arriving to paint my downstairs ceilings and rag my walls. I expect they will be here all week so it will be a little hectic. But hectic will keep my mind off of things so that is a good thing ;)

I do have a better feeling about things now as I feel there is an end in sight. Naturally I have to make up my list of questions for the neurosurgeon and the cardiac surgeon. Guess my odds will be higher than the average person when it comes to bleeding. I will be asking all sorts of questions this Wednesday.

I want to thank you all for your support and I will keep you updated.

Back from Boston

Back from Boston

Well, this certainly is quick. I am scheduled for a heart catherization on Monday and surgery on Tuesday of next week.

I saw the neuro surgeons first and they agreed that in my case this was the best option.

I then saw the cardiac surgeon and he said I had two options

1-go back on Coumadin
2-have my mechanical valve replaced with a bovine valve. (that's what is referred to as a cow's valve, right)

Guess I have to start doing my research now on this valve.

I certainly will be very busy over the next few days.

Any advice from anyone?

I had a feeling this is the way it would be. I'm happy for you, but worried too.
Shut up Ross, she doesn't need to hear that out of you.
.......but I must tell her the truth!
Well, o.k. then.

I'll certainly being a praying for you and your recovery.

Are you going to Moo when you wake up?

;)

Gisele,

I am so so very relieved that you are finally scheduled and that this soon will be behind you. I think if it was me I'd just tell the surgeon to pick the best valve with the best fit for me and let it go at that. I know others have such strong preferences but I just wanted one that worked well and would serve me for a long time.
I guess sometimes we pick and choose our battles and the valve I got or how he chose to install it were battles I sat out.

I'm going to be out of town for several days and probably won't be back to the computer before this is behind you. You will however be in the forefront of my mind, heart, and in my prayers.

Cyber hugs to you Gisele.

FINALLY, Gisele-

I'm sure we'll all give a collective sigh of relief right along with you and your family when this is all put to bed and you're on the road to recovery.

It's been way, way too long for you. You've held up so well under the stress. It's time now for you to relax and let the experts take care of you like a newborn baby. I hope you get lots of pampering in the hospital.

I do so hope that someone can let us know how it went.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers until your surgery results.

God Bless.

Good Luck Gisele!

Good Luck Gisele!

Hi Gisele,

Just want to wish you the best of treatment when you go in next week. I will be thinking of you and praying that everything goes as smooth as possible. Take Care, Harrybaby666:D :D :D :D

Hi Gisele,

After all of this time waiting, at least you are spared waiting a long time anticipating surgery - there IS a God! :)

Our prayers are with you!

Melissa

Gisele,

I talked with Ross on the phone tonight regarding your recent change of plans. I am in Cleveland awaiting my surgery tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.

We on this board have all been concerned for you and your situation. I am glad to hear that things are progressing fast and you will have your mechanical valve replaced and be off the Coumadin once and for all with your new tissue valve.

By the way, if they can't repair my mitral valve, they will be putting in the bovine valve. :)

I will (God willing) be back here at the hotel after my surgery next Tuesday, the day you will be having your surgery and you can be sure that I will be thinking of you and praying for you.

God bless!!

Chris
