Yup, I am, so I've been tinkering with a photo I dug out of the archives that I shot about 3 years ago after an assignment to cover the rededication of a Civil War era cemetary...
I shot a little "festival" near here celebrating a brief moment in the national spotlight when Abe Lincoln "came to town" after having won an election. He wanted to show a local girl his beard, something he grew at her suggestion in a letter written to him during his campaign....
One of the guys seen in the photo, the second in line going from left to right, is head of the production department here at the newspaper. He's also incharge of all the computer systems in the building and on the weekends, he plays with flint lock muskets in period costumes, sleeping in ratty tents and staging not-so-epic battles in a futile attempt to emulate scenes fro Braveheart....
Well, to be nice, it is kinda cool and he's got a pretty good outfit. I like the history behind it and it's fun to try and get shots of them that LOOK like they could have been taken during the Civil War. Unfortunately, in a fair amount of the photos I shot today there were either cars or porta-potties in the background.
