Can anyone recommend books to read on what to expect after surgery? My husband goes into surgery on Tuesday, 1/17 and I want to know what to expect afterwards. I pretty much have been told what to expect for the first few weeks, but after that I wonder. My biggest fear is the depression that may set in for him. I am only the significant other and have already felt depressed since we found out that he had to go in for another surgery.

I received all the information I could possibly need from the hospital I had my surgery at. They sent me videos and booklets, they even sent me a stress reducer dvd. There was a whole booklet and DVD dedicated to after surgery that kinda explained what to expect up to a year out. If you haven't received anything like that, maybe call the hospital and see if they have anything. Otherwise, I'm sure there would be a ton of books on it at any bookstore or library.

thanks

thanks

Thanks Carista,

Oddly enough the pre-op package he received from the hospital has very little info in it.

I will take a look a amazon.com to see if anything looks good. I also have this website which is great. People have been very helpful.

Thanks again.

Jen go down to the reference resources forum and look in must have links. There should be some things useful to you in there.

you missed it, this is one of the articles that seems quite comprehensive. There are several other articles on "Must Have Links," but I like this one the best. You and your husband have all of my best wishes for his surgery and a speedy recovery.
