No, I don't have a child I haven't told you about LOL - it's the 2 year anniversary of Jim's AVR next month :) , and I'm thinking we should do something to celebrate. Last year we were in Copenhagen but we'll be in the UK this year.

So has anybody got any suggestions? I'm not taking him anywhere we're likely to get wet at this time of year (like kayaking!) 'cos we'll freeze our butts off, but otherwise I'm open to any brainstorming you can throw at me.

I kind of feel that we should do something that demonstrates he's OK now - he still gets the occasional bout of self-doubt and says he still isn't feeling completely back to normal (this usually comes after a whole week of overtime at work with a bad cold or something so who wouldn't feel less than 100%?) and I know it's something that takes time but it would be nice to prove to him that he really is "fixed". I know he's better and fitter than he was this time last year, and if he looks at it objectively he agrees, but I'd like some way more memorable than a hike or a bike ride in the forest to prove it to him.

So, I'm after something that's fun, unusual, and will leave us with that "isn't it great to be alive" feeling afterwards. And preferably that doesn't break the bank ;) .

(Incidentally, I think the timing's more important to me than Jim - I asked what he fancied doing to celebrate the other day, and he couldn't even remember if it was 2 or 3 years ;) just goes to show anniversaries etc aren't that important to some people!)

Thanks in advance for all your undoubtedly excellent suggestions :D .
Gemma.

Here's a suggestion!

Here's a suggestion!

Hi Gemma, it depends a lot on what he likes doing or what places he likes goin to, but have you consdered going dancing somewhere? That would definitely get him to believe once and for all that his valve is ok! LOL!!
Happy aniversary to him and his valve!!
Débora

What about a weekend horseback riding? You know, a long ride that includes an overnight stay somewhere. Anything longer than an hour or so on a horse requires a lot of stamina. In addition, it would be romantic and we can always use more romantic moments in our life.

Whatever you do, I hope it is wonderful.

How about a tandem skydiving jump?
A tandem would be safe, but exhilirating, and certainly unique.

sex.................

Ok,
I have a better suggestion after reading Ann's post.
Go to your local DZ and see if you can get in on the Mile High Club.
That would incorporate both of our answers. ;) ;) ;) ;)

I'm with Ann and Mary! A weekend of passion will give you both that 'great to be alive feeling'!

Alternatively, coming down south to us and looking after Chloe always requires energy and enthusiasm!

I'm with you guys about the sex part but, if they need us to suggest it, they may not have too many more birthdays to celebrate together. ;)

I might've known somebody would mention sex! But wouldn't our lives be boring if it was reserved for special occasions;) .

Thanks for the suggestions - Mary, I'm too much of a chicken to jump out of a plane even strapped to a pro, and I can't really imagine Jim going up on his own (he's OK once in the air, but getting on a plane's a different story). Gina - Jim fell off a horse years ago (well, from what he tells me the girth wasn't tight enough so he kind of slipped off sideways as they went along :D I could have made money out of that one if I'd been there with a camera!) and for some reason he doesn't want to try it again:confused: . And Emma - lovely suggestion but may get in the way of Ann's suggestion :p .

So I think Debora's winning so far! I've been trying to get Jim to come dancing with me for a while, and there are various places nearby that run classes such as Salsa nights at one of our favourite bars, and various ballroom and jive classes too. And he hasn't actually refused to come, just he was a bit busy last time I suggested it.

Keep 'em coming!

Gemma.

Sheesh turn my back for one minute and you all are having sex in another thread. Didn't even invite me! :(

After viewing the thread title I was going to suggest a "Tickle Me Elmo" or something like that....but, I guess it's tickle me "something else" that's more appropriate.

Whatever you decide, I hope you have a blast!

Well Ross, I guess we all thought you'd find it quick enough anyway. And look, here you are ;) . I'd just like to point out I didn't start it!!!

Wise, I actually already have my own Tickle Me Elmo - who says cuddly toys are just for kids! I've also got a yawning Bagpuss (from an old British kids' TV show that was on when I was little and has recently been re-released). Just have to remember not to tread/lean on them by accident as it can be a bit of a shock when you suddenly hear a yawn or a giggle coming from a pile of stuffed toys.:)

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday

Hi.
Wonderful to hear all's well.
I think the blue john cavern range in Hope, in the Peak District are great. You can even go down one of them in a little boat. (Don't do this in a vest, even in summer - It's COLD) Then you could go to the Cholmondely Arms in Cholmondely, (pronounced Chumley)if you haven't already been there, it's really nice. And of course there's always Alton Towers!!!
Ambleside is lovely too. I can also recommend places to eat there. (I do like my food)

Whatever you decide, have a fantastic time.:)

Hello Lotti, thanks for the suggestions. We were in the Lake District at Easter and went for a few walks in the Ambleside area - most memorably a 6-hour hike up, along and down High Street (that's where my avatar pic was taken).

Anyway, I have reached a decision!!! Booked 2 nights at a fab hotel in the week before Jim's AVR anniversary and bought a voucher for an exciting outdoor activity to be used at some time in the next year - so depending on when Jim can get a day off work (9th Dec or some time next year when it's warmer!) we'll maybe do that in the same week.

Will tell you all about it after we've done it - just in case Jim happens to be reading over my shoulder, don't want to let the cat out of the bag :D . I will say it encompasses pretty much everybody's suggestions though, so thanks everyone!

Gemma.
