This is an open invitation to join Cooker's weight loss Throwdown ... we would love to have you join us and would love to see past Throw downers to come out of the cookie closet!!!

Losing weight if needed and maintaining a healthy body weight is crucial to good health, heart and otherwise ... The Throwdown is a group that has fun while trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight ... there are no dues or fees and the only rule is that we are never critical or hurtful ... we do poke fun at each other from time to time but is always in a spirit of support ...

from time to time we have a challenge (ST Patty's Day Race going on currently) but you can join us ANY time, you do not need to join in any challenge, you don't have to post your weight, you don't have to tell how much you lose or gain from week to week ... we are here to simple support each other and have fun doing so ...

Lets face it ... there are many who struggle with weight and need to address the issue ... if it were not so the Throwdown would not be in it's third year ...

Come join us ... I promise you will not regret your association with our jolly band of losers ... any questions feel free to post them here, on the Throwdown thread or PM me ...

Okay I'm in but you do not want a pic of this short, fat and balding guy in a speedo as that could be considered a crime against humanity as there is not yet a surgeon with the the talent to repair the damaged eyesight THAT would cause

Todd ... welcome to the fun! ... I usually post each weeks thread on Thursday and some weigh in Thursday, some Friday and some Saturday ... makes no diff ... cruise over to the Throwdown thread and or check out past threads if you like ... glad you joined our merry band of losers!

i would like to join, but recently discovered the new limited time cocoa creme puff doughnut at dunkin donuts and i am not ready to lose that part of my day yet!

OK Cooker, your post has made me ashamed that I don't post here regularly in CT. I'm not in denial. I admit that I have a weight problem. I only wish I could figure out a program that works. I do keep trying and I stay active. My last time on the scale I was 239. Let's see if I can shave off a few pounds.

Jim

Speedos? EGAD! 30 years ago...no way now.

p.s. i steered clear of the girl scouts this year. too much temptation and you can never eat just one of those cookies. its always the whole box or NOTHING!!!!!!

As a "throwdown newbie" I would ask for official clarification since a calorie is defined as
The calorie is a pre-SI metric unit of energy. It was first defined by Nicolas Clément in 1824 as a unit of heat, entering French and English dictionaries between 1841 and 1867.[1] In most fields its use is archaic, having been replaced by the SI unit of energy, the joule. However, in many countries it remains in common use as a unit of food energy.

Definitions of a calorie fall into two classes:

The small calorie or gram calorie (symbol: cal)[2] approximates the energy needed to increase the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 °C. This is about 4.2 joules.
The large calorie, kilogram calorie, dietary calorie or food calorie (symbol: Cal)[2] approximates the energy needed to increase the temperature of 1 kilogram of water by 1 °C. This is exactly 1000 small calories or about 4.2 kilojoules
and that is that a calorie is defined as a unit of heat....if I eat a tray of FROZEN brownies do I get a free pass ?
