Wow Katie,

quote - but my heart size has decreased. DECREASED! - end of quote

That is great news. I'm so happy for you. Some of those drugs do such wonders.

I wasn't on any heart drugs for 8 years - I couldn't tolerate any of them. Then I got so many ventricular tachycardias (vt's) I couldn't breath sitting at my desk !!! This atenolol has a few 'side' effects - but compared to how I was functioning before the meds and NOW - I'm very lucky there's a drug like this to hold back my vt's. I don't know what I would do without it. Just cutting my doseage in half after 3 days last week - I could feel the vt's coming back and couldn't breath going upstairs. Between the atenolol and mexiletine - I'm doing very well. My running isn't going as well as it was. But I did do a 5k in 33 minutes on the weekend. Usually I do it in 30 minutes - but it was really COLD and I think my legs weren't getting enough oxygen - which I think is becoming a problem for me with the cold weather. I think my asthma kicks up in the cold weather. I'll probably go back to the treadmill for the winter and wait till spring before I go back out. I wanted to do a marathon so bad next month - but I just can't do it. My heart is doing great - its the rest of me that's falling apart. I think I overdid it this year - 35 races - 6 half marathons and countless "Mountains' I climbed.. I guess it has finally caught up with me.. I'm going to have to cut back on my mileage and maybe I'll take up biking and swimming to give my legs a break. They sure could use it..

But hey I can't complain - at least I was in the race.. :) Now to recoup and regroup for next spring.

See Ya
