Ben,
I wanted to thank you for a few things (and I did it here so you could also see the new 'avatar'). First, thanks for having us up last weekend. It couldn't have come at a better time. I've been really worried lately about Evan's next check-up (the 13th) and him starting "real" school with gym class and all. Not to mention I told you about his little friend who recently had his pulm. valve replaced and he's now got a permanent pacer. So anyway, I appreciated the get-away more than you know and seeing how well you're doing only made it better. Meeting your mom, finally, was also great. She has been such an inspiration to me as someone who coped with the situation for a long time and seems to be so strong through it all. I really appreciate your putting me in touch with her years ago, and introducing us to her last week.

Okay, and a final thank you... for giving Evan "the hat". He has worn it so much since that day. It goes around the house with him many times even when it's not on his head. He really does treasure it. It means a lot that something which meant so much to you, you have now shared with him. I am going to be sure he has it with him at his cardio visits from now on. =)

Thanks again... and I hope you enjoy the avatar. He's got that goofy "If I'm showing my teeth it is called 'smiling'" face going on, but that's Evan for ya. =)

Sounds like a great weekend!

LME,
Thoughts/prayers for you regarding Evan's checkup on Sept 13.

And, Ben ... sure wish I could've met you while I was driving through the Lima OH area on Friday, Aug 11. I mentioned my travels past your area in your "6 years ago this month" post from a couple weeks ago, sorry if you missed it :(.

*nods*

Sounds like a plan to me ;). And, no worries ... I can certainly understand about a busy week/day.... You weren't the only one I missed that trip.

Lookin' forward to meeting you in person ... someday soon :).

Thanks for the well-wishes for Evan's next visit. The plan (as it was a few months ago anyway) is to have him wear a 24-hour holter monitor. This will be a first for him. He's been falling asleep every day on the bus on the way home, though, so I guess we'll see if that changes anything with the plans.

As for Ben, he is the busiest person I know. Seriously. We've known them off-line for six years now and he hasn't slowed down yet. We hardly get to see them because he's so busy all the time. You almost have to catch him months in advance to make plans with him. lol

I hope you're right. I am not looking forward to next week. You know how this summer has been for us anyway. My stepdad was supposed to have cancer surgery, but first had to have open-heart surgery. Then last week he had more surgery... on his legs where they took the arteries from because they weren't healing right. His cancer surgery is now scheduled for Wednesday. This Wednesday. Then one week later is Evan's appointment. I'm not ready for any of it. Evan's been sleeping on the bus on the way home (in fact, they LOST him on day 2 of school because of it.. he was in the back of the bus and they didn't know it -- he now has a seat up front).

Anyway, I'll update once we find out what's going on with his heart health.

Well, sure hope it all gets worked out. The 24-hour holter monitor is not that bad ... just annoying at times ;).

Now, don't over-exagerate. Not months just weeks. LOL ;)

I wish I could sleep on the way home from work. But then, I would have to pay someone to drive me. Just kiddin.....
Keep us posted on your stepdad & Evan's appointment.

We still planning on OSU vs. 'That team up north' game at our place?

Absolutely. Well, yours or ours. Either way. Typically we do it up there, so don't feel like you have to always play host. You know Evan loves coming up there, though, so we don't mind driving if you want to play host again.

I will update you when I know something. I've got knots in my stomach about tomorrow. I was told the plan for my stepdad was to remove part of the colon and 30-50% of his liver. Now this morning I found out that if they see cancer in the lymph nodes (after the colon surgery) they aren't even going to bother with his liver. I'm hoping it hasn't spread to the lymph nodes. I have been unable to find information on what the chances are that it's already in the lymph nodes. So I'll have to wait for tomorrow.
