Hello everyone,
Well here I am again. I had AVR surgery 7 years ago at the age of 33 to replace a bicuspid aortic valve that was becoming a nuisance. Of all the valve replacement options (Ross Proc., artificial, etc.) I ended up choosing a homograft. Vaughn Starnes did the work down at USC in Los Angeles. Well....the valve hasn't lasted as long as I'd hoped and I'll probably have to go back in to replace it next Summer ('06). However, now I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, Berkeley to be exact, and I wanted to find out if anyone in this forum had their AVR surgery done at Stanford. If so, by whom? How was the hospital stay? Also, if anyone knows a crackerjack valve surgeon at UCSF, then I'd like to know that too.
Right now I'm talking to Dr. D. Craig Miller at Stanford and I feel comfortable with him but in the case of AVR surgery due diligence is everything so the more surgeon options the better.
Thanks in advance,
Glenn
