Home 5 days post op!!!!!

Wow - On monday, the pacing wires came out and after an echo which showed all to be fine, the central line came out of Sam's neck. He had a good night Monday. The cardiologist came to see him on tuesday morning and after examining him, said he could go home! We have now been home 24 hours, Sam is making great progress - is walking well and frequently - and managing his chest pain with paracetamol and tramadol. His appetite is good and he has amazed us all! Amazing how at this age improvement can be so rapid. Thanks again for all your kind messages

Actually five days from surgery to home is rather standard..... Certainly not for everyone but many of us in our fifties, sixties and even older are discharged in five days. It really is stunning when you think what they have done to us and how quickly they have us up and moving around and home. If all has gone smoothly, no complications........ the activity level increase aids in healing.

Three weeks on and Sam is doing really well, he is healing nicely and every day feels better and stronger. He is back to college tomorrow for short sessions. He is walking well and looks so much better now!
