There are a few here who had Dr. Coselli. With the reunion and weekend coming up, it may be a bit slow getting responses, but hang in there.

Rick, I had a bicuspid aortic valve and an aneurysm and had Dr. Coselli put in a mechanical valve and darcon sleeve. Email me and I'll give you my phone number and we can chat.

Hi Rick

Hi Rick

Welcome to VR.com.
I was diagnosed almost identical to what you are describing.
I had my surgery when they found my ascending aortic aneurysm to be 5.3 cm. My valve had a 4+ regurgitation rate, but keeping a close eye on it and getting multiple cardio's thoughts was important to me.

What I am saying is that I agree with some of the other posts, everyone is different and I would recommend a second opinion on the AA & when the appropriate time for surgery is.

As far as the surgery goes, with the medical field the way it is today...... rapid recovery is more common than anything else.

I would also recommend checking for experience cardiothorasic surgeon's in your area and getting their thoughts as well as other cardiologists.

God Bless,

Ben

Ben and Dick thanks for your comments. Dick I will email you this weekend and would love to have a chance to talk with you about your experience with Dr. Coselli. Ben, was your aneurysm discovered when it was 5.3cm or did you wait until it reached that point to have it repaired? I have been watching mine for a couple of years and up until March mine had been stable at 4.8cm. In March 5.0cm by CT. I will have an echo on Tuesday but was just wondering if you had waited to have your surgery.

Thanks,
Rick

I split Mikes thread apart from this one so that you both get the attention and answers that you need separately.
