Aortic root Repair

I am receiving a aortic valve replacement tomorrow. My surgeon first thought I might need a root replacement but later the nurse said it would only take a repair. This would be much less invasive and less risky, I won't tak to surgeon until tomorrow. I assume he is going to put a patch around the aortia and reinforce it? Anyone have experience?

Can't contribute about repair to the root. I had root replacement, valve replacement and aortic aneurysm replaced with dacron graft a few weeks ago. Hope you've been able to learn more since your post.
