I just MVR done June 15th. I'm home recovering. I'm noticing muscle aches in my forearm, bicep, and in my neck. Especially in my neck this morning.

I usually wake up feeling a bit stiff, which doesn't go away until I get on the treadmill for a 3-4 mph.

I have the usual chest and back pains. I'm putting out the word that I'm accepting free back & neck rubs today, so if anyone is near Flint, step up. lol

I felt it in my right arm for months after surgery. I blamed the fact that they had me spread wide open and strained my arm. I would sleep on top of my arm for a while because it felt so good. But those pains are gone now.

i can feel it in my right arm and i did have it in my left arm also but that has gone away. i mainly feel it in my right shoulder thoiugh from where they had to spread everything open. and that itself is the worse pain i am having now. it is even worse than the chest pain and where they put the pacemaker(which i very rarely feel anymore unless i move my arm too much). my replacement was done on may 29th and hoping the pain subsides soon.

Guess what Hot Rod Harry?
Sorry to tell you, but its sounds like your having a normal recovery :)

Try using a heating pad for now and in 2 or 3 weeks try going for a gentle massage.

Oh, boy do I know all about that. Had to have about 10-20 rub downs per day. I think I'm probably the closet being in Saginasty...

I know it's all standard. I didn't have as much neck pain last time, but I had a sharp piercing pain in my shoulder blade, that didn't go away for at least 2 months.

I'd put you down for a back rub Dee, but it hasn't been that long since you've had yours done yourself. 10-20 rubs a day!! Wow.

I noticed that the left forearm was where one of the large IV's were, and there was some discomfort there towards the end. I guess I'll be ok in the end.

Muscle pain in my shoulders, neck, biceps and pectoralis muscles is really the only post-surgical pain that I have had. I am 9 weeks out and I just spent all weekend with a heating pad and begging my son, the massage therapist, for frequent shoulder work.

I hope that it resolves toon.

Well someone is spoiled ;) A massage therapist for a son.........oh how lucky can one be?

yeah u are very lucky. i am going to try to get a prescription from my doc for massage therapy since my insurance covers it otherwise i would just have to suffer through the shoulder pain because i wouldn't be able to afford the cost of a massage therapy session. i used to get it all the time and it was a great way to relieve stress and feel better.

If i'm understanding this correctly... You had your surgery 7 days ago and your on a treadmilll??? Was this open heart surgery?

That's what I was thinking....thanks for bringing it up, Laura! Simmer down Harry or you'll be back in the big house. Rest. Relax. Recoop....or I'll come over there and tie you down. LOL

The only problem I've had is a weakness and some cramping in the backs of my thighs and calves. It seems to be getting better as I walk more. It was just kind of a surprise because I didn't have while I was in the hospital.

Harry sounds like your doing great, keep at it.

Yes, I wake up stiff, I get stiff just laying around, and the mild relief I get from the stiffness is to get on the treadmill. It doesn't go lower than 1 mph, and I only do 3 or 4 min at a time. This is no different than walking the halls at the hospital a few times a day. Yes, this was open heart.

I talk myself into relaxing all the time.

I woke up with a splitting headache this morning. I wondering if it had anything to do with sleeping in the bed last night, instead of the lazy boy.. I lasted 3 hrs in the bed, laying flat, before I had to get up.

It's been 15 days for me, and I just finished mowing the lawn. However, I had the robotic surgery so I don't have the sternum trauma.

That's also my question.

7 days and has a few pains! Wow, that is bad.
At 7 days, I'd just got out of ICU and still had another 13 days in the hospital.

I usually wake up feeling a bit stiff
Hell, Harry, wait till you're my age. You'll feel lucky if you wake up. :D
