Now I love liver and kidney, oxtail too. My aged Mum likes tripe, I'd take it or leave it. But heart  don't think I could. Just wouldn't seem right somehow. Any thoughts?

Who knows what they grind into processed food. But I never knowingly eat heart.

At one time, thought I would forgo pork BBQ out of respect to my valve donor. However, that's mighty hard to pass up here in the Southland. So I just say (or oink) a little thank-you while asking for the tomato-based sauce. :D

My Mom used to cook kidneys for my Dad (European gourmet style) until she had a kidney transplant.
I remember they always had a jar of beef tongue in the fridge....
My hubby loves steak and kidney pie, and I reject the kidney bits.
Liver used to be nice, but now I avoid all organ meats.

Chicken hearts are delicious! One of the great joys of making a beer-can-chicken is grilling the heart on the side to sustain the griller until it is dinner time.

Many years ago, in the 60's to be precise my Nin ( Grandmother ) used to cook OX Heart she would make sage and onion stuffing, stuff the heart stitch it up to keep the stuffing in , then slow roast it ( probably in beef dripping) and you know what, it was delicious.
We also used to have stuffed lamb's hearts but she used to braise then in gravy I think.

Offal, liver hearts and kidneys were always on the menu

Another favourite of my Nin's was pigs trotters but I never tried them

Not sure if I could eat heart now

Fried chicken hearts and livers are delish:D .....Anyone ever have brains and eggs?....
I once seen a program where they would hit a chimp over the head and then eat the brain from its body at the table- sick.
I couldn't eat heart brain or a bunny rabbit, too gross.

It is true that some have practiced this barbaric custom?.they have been?.well lets just say they are no longer a threat to the simian race;) ?.Some of you may have heard of the CIA (Chimp Intelligence Agency)?.The leader, Lancelot Link Secret Chimp:cool: was given the task years ago to locate and eliminate this small but disgusting group?.The Agency constantly monitors any and all potential terrorist plots against the Simian Nation?..

Chimpicide carries the ultimate penalty??those entertaining such thoughts should be afraid, very afraid????..

Yes, until I was told what they were. They tasted fine until then. I was a kid and my great aunt made the "scrambled eggs." My cousins told me what they after eating half of a serving. That was my first as last time. ;)

Somebody has to mention them.
They are eaten and enjoyed as various disguised names in some places.
What?
You know ;)
Them

Testicles.

Anyone sampled?

Yes, my auntie gave me a sheep testicle, when i was younger. Can't say i cared very much for it, very rubbery, can't remember the taste as it was so long ago and of course i didn't know what it was.

Heart? yes. tasted rather like chicken gizzard and chicken hearts. Lived on a farm when I was a kid and we had our own home grown meat tree.

Brains/eggs? same thing. Odd thing is I married a man from Chicago and he once requested some. I was surprised to know they do it in Chicago, a large city. thought it was country fare.

Deer heart...

Deer heart...

I hear of people eating deer heart quite often after a kill. I'm a deer hunter, and would try it, but can honestly say that I haven't yet. Interesting thought...not sure if I feel differently about it now.

Hi...Yes, as a child my father and i used to fight over turkey and chicken gizzards and hearts as we both loved them. They are delicious!! Dawn-Marie
