Hey all! I am quite bored here at home. I am supposed to be reading Les Miserables for school (I'm on page 56 out of 597), but I am not. I have decided to get off the computer in three minutes. Ehnieeeway, I was just wondering if there were any other teenagers on this site. Sad to say, but I sort of abandoned vr.com while I was in school, but now I've come back and realized all that I've missed! :] Oh, and any teens near Houston should check out itsmyheart.org and click on the "We Got Heart" link on the left-hand side. I've been working with the president of It's My Heart (an organization to support those affected by CHD in Houston) to start a teen group! We have the basics down, but are now starting to plan meetings and events. So exciting! :] Anywho, I just wanted to see if there were any other kids my age on here.

Sorry sweetie, I think you are our youngest member. Nicole once was, but she's all grown up and like 23 now.

Cailey,
I'm not a "teenager" but close enough, I'm 20, I'll be 21 in december and I am a fellow CHD'er, I havent had any valve replacements yet, but they are watching my aortic and mitral valves for future eventual repair/replacements probably within the next 5-10 years (ish, depending on how things work out) although I did have 2 OHS's while I was really young ( 1 and 4)

I gotta go now, but feel free to get ahold of me

Morgan, 20

I guess I don't qualify as a "kid" anymore. ;) I'm 30. But I'll always feel like a "heart kid" because I've dealt with this stuff all my life. I had my first surgery when I was five (I don't remember it) and I've had a pacemaker since I was seven. My cardiologist refers to me as one of her "big kids" (she's a pediactric cardiologist).

I'm glad you're working to put together a teen group. I grew up in Houston and would have loved to have been a part of something like that when I was your age. I didn't know anyone else with heart problems until I found my online communities when I got to college.

I had what you had!

Hi I just joined this site and found your name. I am 22 years old now bu I also had the Ross Procedure done when I was 13. I haven't had anything done since. They are now watching the donor Pulmonary valve but it isn't bad yet! I hope to talk with you more about your experiences with the Ross.
