Another food (well I don't think of it as a food) to avoid (it seems)

It came to my attention that (hey @Timmay ) this new fangled thing is causing INR issues

wasn't much on it yet, but I did find an Honours Thesis from the Honors Program of Liberty University in the USA suggesting that this cunning seeding plant has found a new way to poison those animals that it doesn't want eating and distributing its fruit.

Inhibition of Human Cytochrome P450-3A4 isoform by Crude Extracts from Acai Berry

The results obtained suggest that compounds in certain acaí fractionations, specifically 94-C (Diosmetin) inhibit the enzymes’ activity by approximately 68%. While further research into the metabolism of acaí berries must be conducted, these results imply that eating acaí berries may be harmful while taking certain medications due to the inability of CYP 3A4 and 2D6 enzymes to adequately metabolize the drug

Thesis here.

To be clear you want to keep Cytochrome (that's the CYP) operating properly (its the most important liver enzyme in the disposal of warfarin) to keep your INR and dose response steady.

Wow ... always wonder why people think weird horrible tasting stuff (yes gapefruit I'm looking at you) is healthy rather than horrible?

So there you go, while its early days its one more for the list of "get that stuff out of my food".

This was found by the persson doing regular testing weekly ... which is why I always promote weekly testing.

Best Wishes

But man o man was that a super tasty snack!!!!!

Wouldn’t have caught this so early had I not been the dork that I am and testing mid-week.

The rest of these are now in the trash.

Thanks pellicle!!!

WOW, and another thing so far as I can tell, was talking to those very informed at the VA and discussing my INR test/results! I was informed that the THC I use does in fact effect the IRN/WARFARIN thingy! Well I have been on both for some time now, at least months if not years, and with no noticeable problems, nor difficulties with amount of WARFARIN dose i take per instructions from the VA! I say this cause if there are any others that use both, this is for sure something that could be a problem others may be having and do not know what I just was told about the THC, chocolate edibles that is. 1 at night and going to zzzzz, each and every day. And yes, for those that may not know, it is legal down here in FLORIDA, and has been for about 3-4 years or so. [Medical Merrrywana for pain management, so far and perhaps soon to be recreational.] Chuck, what ya trying to do, get Pellicle banned or something?
............... :D:cool:
