I am a 39 year old male that had AVR completed on June 24th and then had aneurysm repair(aortic arch, descending aorta and left subclavian artery) on August 31st. Both surgeries at St. Luke's in Houston, TX with Dr. Joseph Coselli. Has anyone else been through an aneurysm repair of the descending aorta?

Just looking to compare notes with someone else that has gone through this surgery, I have found the second surgery to be more complex in terms of recovery, etc.

I didn't have an aneurysm but I had something like the opposite, a coarctation of the descending aorta, something I was born with. That surgical repair was performed, through my back, when I was seventeen, with a dacron graft. There are a few other members here with coarctation repairs. I'm not sure I've read of any other members with an aneurysm of the descending aorta, though there may be and they will hopefully respond.

Welcome to the site; hope you are recovering well :)
