I keep seeing posts from people with aneurysms and I realized I know nothing about them. I thought they had to be dealt with immediately, but I'm learning different. Can anyone give me a quick synopsis about them and how they are treated? I take it they are different from clots?
Thanks in advance for the primer.

Possibly the most common aneurysm mentioned here on VR.com is the Ascending Aortic Aneurysm which is located in the first part of the aorta as it exits the heart. The diameter of this vessel is usually around 2.5-3.5cm . Once it gets over 4.5cm it is getting close to time for surgery...Somewhere between 4.5 and 5.0cm is the usual size surgeons will electively operate on these but sometimes the aneurysms arent even found until well over 5.0cm...Aneurysms in other areas of the aorta are less dangerous . Its also possible to treat more of these other aneurysms with stents and/or medication, whereas this is not the case with ascending aortic aneurysms.

Very different from clots ... Aneurysms are a weak, enlarged and bulging portion of the aorta.
