Andrew had his VAD surgery yesterday and things are going well, but please keep Andrew and Wendy (his Mom use to post here) and whole family in your prayers that things continue to go well and this works in getting him to the point where he would be a candidate for a new heart.
Andrew's carepage is http://www.carepages.com/carepages/AndrewJosephspage

Andrew had a great night. We are all still thrilled. He is responsive and calm. Praying that we can get the vent off today we still are weaning him off the Nitric which is helping his heart also.

He looks comfortable has mentioned he is in a little pain. They have been so good about managing his pain and I couldn't be happier. He is anxious to get his tube out so I am hoping he won't be disappointed. I am very hopeful that it will happen but have been down this road before. Things to pray about is that there is no damage to the nerves to his diaphram a possibility but not expected at this point. The decision of when to start him back on heparin. Just that God will give them wisdom of the best timing on that for him. And of course that He continues to keep his hand on Andrew as he heals.

I am so blessed and cannot believe how well it is going. I won't be suprised about bumps in the road but I am enjoying our present situation. The nurses have been great along with all of the techs too.

Joel is home so he can participate in our Christmas Pagent this weekend and next. It is in Lake Zurich,Il if anyone is intrested in attending. I am sorry to not be able to watch this year or participate. It is always phenominal. Seriously Anyone who can go it is so worth it. You can call the church at 847-438-4494 for availability of tickets there are 5 performances and I know some are sold out already.

Just had Dr Tsao stop by and say hi! It was great to see her and she told us how the news of his sucessful surgery was passed on to those there at Childrens and I think everyone is just so pleased thus far.

Well I better send this off or you will never get to read this good stuff. Thank you for every prayer for every word of encouragement. Thanks so much to Kris and Dian for coming to stay with us through the long surgery. I know there were several who wanted to be here as well and I appreciate each of you!

God bless,
Wendy

We just removed the breathing tube. He is hurting pretty badly but hopefully he can stay extubated and just keep healing. He has a lot of chest tubes in and I am sure the pocket for the pump is very sore too. Just pray for his comfort and a good rest tonight.

It is all good!

Wendy

I am praying so hard for this young man! I pray that this surgery will finally bring an end to this young man's illness and he can once again regain his health and be able to move on with his young life! He's been through so much already.

Keep on fighting, Andrew!
