You still did not state what fluid build up you had, coumadin usually does not do this. Do you have CHF, fluid build up is usually a complication from that condition, I did without coumadin. Check into this and get back with us with information that we all can use. Hugs for today.

They never really said but they DID mark on my paperwork that it was heart failure. I was told that I was on other meds that "Enhanced" the effectiveness of the coumadin.. I guess they thinned the blood. They included Bactrim, Lipitor and some mucus medicine that contained Tylenol (acetaminophen) I am getting conflicting reports that Tylenol will effect coumadin but thats what one of the docs said.

All I can say for certain is that I feel great. I can sleep on my back for the first time in forever and I have not had one heart flutter since I had the fluid drained off my lungs AND Im off lanoxin. I may be headed for disaster but so far, so good.

Glad to hear you are feeling better and the fluids seem to have stopped or greatly slowed down. FWIW usually the fluid that they can tap off,(effusions) isn't related to CHF (you also can have CHF while you have effusions.) Its common post op to build pericardial and plural effsusions in people who dont also have CHF. And yes Coumadin can play a role in how long the effusions build and the amount.

I know it can be a big step in feeling better when you can finally sleeep on your back.
