Just read this...........

Just read this...........

Ann, I am so sorry that you and your brother and sister are going through all this. You have had a really tough two years (actually it sounds like longer than that) and it doesn't look like it is going to get any easier for a while. You have my love and prayers.............for strength, answers, and peace. ((((hugs))))

And sending hugs to you, Al. I knew about your wife (I was cleaning out my PMs the other day and ran across the post about your wife and I was crying all through it again. Her life may have been cut way too short, but it is so obvious that she was very, very loved.), but I am sorry to read this about your dad and now your mom. ((((sending hugs to you too))))

Much love. J.

Thanks, Janet.

Ann, any time something foreign is introduced into the body (stent etc) it increases the possibility of infection. The process of running it up to the area pushes along bacteria.

My Mom asked what caused her to have to go to the nursing home and all I could think of was MBDs. She asked, "What are MBDs?" "Many brithdays".

There is so little that I can add after all these postings, except that my prayers are with you and your brother. I lost mine less that a year ago. He was also on coumadin that was stopped at the hospital where he had gone himself as he was not feeling well. They were going to give him a catherization (I believe this is the correct word) and they stopped the coumadin. He had a massive heart attack just a couple of hours before going through the test while talking with the doctors. We knew so little (actually nothing about coumadin) that never questioned the doctors. I had my mitral valve repaired 2 months later and then found this forum. Had I known what I now know about coumadin I would have probably asked more questions as to the "real" cause of his stroke.
It's hard to know that you may lose someone you love, but God in His wisdom knows why things happen when they do. My heart goes to you

Maka,
Did he have a heart attack, a stroke or both. Warfarin is not very effective in preventing heart attacks. It is very effective when preventing a stroke caused by an irregular heart rhythm but not strokes from clogged arteries. Don't draw a cause and effect conclusion until you have learned more.

Unfortunately I was in Florida when my brother had the heart attack. He was in NY
When my niece was asked whether the family wanted an autopsy to be done, she said not without thinking too much. She was too upset as she was walking into the room when the doctors were trying to resusitate him. I guess had I been there, I would have told her to say yes and find out more Now we'll never know exactly what happened. not that it makes much difference
As I said, I knew little about caumedin and don't know closely he was being monitored. I heard something at the time about his "level of something being 8" which if they were talking about INR I now know is way too high... He was taken out of caumedin for a few days so they could do the test but don't know whether this had any effect.....but as I say, God in His wisdom knows why things happens the way they do
Thank you for caring
