Phyllis, I will be thinking and praying for you. Glad you found it early enough!
Glad you posted so we can all be praying for you... I know your outcome will be good...:)

Thanks everyone for your good wishes- you people are the best! I will be busy this week with the pre-op tests here locally as there was not time when I got through with the surgeon at Yale and Saturday my children arrive for a week, so time should fly. I am keeping a positve attitude and you all set a very good example!

Phyllis,
This is awful to read, but if there's anyone who knows what they're doing in the medical world, it's you. It sounds like you are/will be getting the very best of treatment, and as timely as possible.

You will be missed here, with understanding. I hope everything goes well.

My mother is a 30-year breast cancer survivor, and looks like she's heading for 50!

Phyllis
I am sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. I will be praying for you.
My mom had that same diagnosis 2 years ago, and she is doing GREAT!
I have the same hope for you.
Please keep us posted.

Adding my best wishes to the rest. So great that you found it early and the treatment is tolerable. You are so kind and generous to everybody...may those good vibes be returned to you manyfold!

Sorry i'm late. Wanted to send my very best wishes and praying for a good outcome. Very best wishes, take care.

Phyllis, I am so sorry to read this. I've been on the board so little the last couple of weeks that I totally missed this. I will keep you in prayer and of course you know how much you will be missed here on the board. Love and hugs......

Phyllis, I've been caught up with family health problems here and haven't really been watching the forums very hard. I'd missed this entirely. In fact, if Mary hadn't gently mentioned it to me (the large lump on my head still hurts when I comb my hair), I'd still be blissfully unaware that you are in this fix.

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having to deal with this. It's very draining to go through these cycles of test-and-wait, more-tests-and-wait, surgery-and-wait, etc. My heart goes out to you. And to **** as well. I know that it's also very hard to be in a position where someone you love is threatened, and you're powerless to do anything to really help.

Be well, Phyllis. Get through this and put it behind you. You have many thoughts and prayers coming to you, including mine.

Very best wishes,

Dear Phyllis,

You will be in my prayers that your upcoming surgery will go well and that your lymph nodes come back clean. This Saturday will be my one year celebration from having lumpectomy with stage 1 left breast infiltrating ducal carcinoma. I did not have to have chemotherapy but I did have 33 zaps of radiation therapy. I was told the radiation would touch the edge of my lung and heart sac. Before they put you under have your list of questions for your surgeon. These are some question I wish I would have asked. How long do I have to wait before I can start radiation? What oncologist and radiation oncologist do you recommend? Last summer I wanted to get my radiation done as soon as possible, but time was lost trying to get appointment with the oncologist, radiation oncologist. The oncologist will go over your pathology report. Your radiation oncologist will do more pictures and set you up with a pre trial radiation. I was given a choice for my tattoos as long as they were a dot and black. Things that are good for radiation treatment is a sharpie pin, aloe vera gel that is alcohol and fragrance free and a few cotton tank shirts (Wal mart have hanes in the sleepwear) It is very important to keep all of your marking for radiation. If you do use Xclair cream it will stain your clothing. I did not have any drain tubes after surgery and never felt sick with radiation or being on Tamozifen, the only part I did not like was the 45 min. MRI. Keep a file of all your medical appointments, bills and reports. If you?re insurance changes next year keep your old insurance card. I am still seeing bills that they want more money. A positive attitude and exercise will get through this.

May God Bless You!! Life is good!

Rebecca

ATTITUDE by Charles Swindoll

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes

Thanks so much for the encouragement and advice Rebecca. Thankfully, I am in the hands of an excellent team at the Yale Breast center. One week after surgery, I already have appointments with the surgeon, the oncologist, and the radiologist oncologist to go over my pathology and set up my treatment plan. Fortunately, the radiologist oncologists from Yale have a program set up at our local hospital here for radiation treatment so I will not have to travel to New Haven for that and many people I know locally have sung their praises. Yale sent me home with a canvas bag filled with information on breast cancer (a gift no one else wants to get) and I have been amazed and very thankful for their considerate care and concern. I highly recommend that anyone facing this get themselves to a "breast center" for their care.
I have just spent a wonderful week with a visit from my daughter, son-in-law and grandson who is almost two and talking up a storm. I intend to keep his smiling face in mind as they put me under for the lumpectomy on Tuesday. I can't thank everyone here enough for their concern and good wishes. I fully expect this to be a bump in the road and will report back to you all after I get through this on Tuesday and again once I have the pathology reports and know my treatment plan. You all have paved the way for a good attitude!:)
