I've done nothing to take any credit for, except maybe ban a few porn spambots here. Most security issues will be dealt with on Hanks end, as he is the Master Blaster of the server. As long as he has all the security updates in place and I read around enough, we should all be relatively comfortable. If someone wants to do something bad enough, they will always find a way to do it. The only true security is to NOT CONNECT to the internet at all, but that's just not practical. ;)

DOS rules. I remember a lot of those awkward commands. Never knew if I was going to crash the computer w/o a safety net. I still have an old machine with DOS on it. My AutoCad program ran with DOS. That was in olden times, LOL. Still have my old DOS 5.0 and 6.0 handbooks.

I must be old, old, old:p

I could probably use those books. I know very little DOS. I was born and raised on Winders 98se.
<-----------Why does this guy keep putting that ugly picture up?

Windows has been such a miracle and DOS is so clunky. Sort of like writing small programs every time you want to do something.

The only time I would ever use DOS again would be if I had a serious crash and couldn't get into safe mode.

Would you believe I used to run AutoCad, which is a huge program on a machine that had 2 - 90 mg hard drives which were tied in together. I had enormous drawings in my business, some projects were worth $250,000.00 to $500,000.00. Not my fee, unfortunately, but the value of the open plan panel systems. I had to use all sorts of tricks to keep the drawings from crashing the computer, like changing all the text to lines, and working with different resolutions. Drawings on the computer are big pixel pigs, maybe worse than pictures, because each item in the drawing has a working calculation behind it with tie-ins to databases.

Now I'm getting all nerdy. I'll end my nostalgia trip, :D

Nancy - I hate Cad - ran it early on and had trouble trying to figure it out as I was brand new to computers - then my brother bought us an update and I threw up my hands and said no - no - noooooooooooo

As to DOS, I wish we could still use it. And keep all our stuff on disks. Nobody could crash them then!

Hi Hensylee-

What were you using Cad for? The upgrades were the WORST. There was always some kind of unresolved glitch. Then you had to call tech support and try to have them walk you through a "work-around patch". Nasty stuff when you're trying to work within a time crunch.

I still have about a bazillion floppies in my office. I don't use them much anymore.
