In the forums it has been spoken of to go abroad to countries like India in order to have cheap surgery. The following is a message posted on another site I visit, it isn't about heart surgery, nor India, but I think it gives food for thought so am copying it here. Sometimes cheap isn't good.

"while i am not the most religous person around, there are times when it really helps. do you remember my friend who went to pakistan for a kidney operation, well he was in icu for 2 days then put on a ward, however he hasn't lost his temp which have been between 38 - 40 plus for the last 2 weeks. he still seems to be having a littlr brain trouble, mainly because of the high temps, well he has been readmitted to icu on friday with temps of just on 41 and they have told hiswife that he might not come home, as they cannot find where the germ is that is causing the trouble,
so please say a prayer for him and his wife who has been sleeping at the hospital for the last 2 weeks. thank you"
