Seth,
Although I have not tried Guided Imagery, I have used biofeedback for years. I worked for a psychiatrist years ago and he used it in his practice. I got so good at it that I no longer needed the monitors to give me the feedback. I still can relax fairly quickly if left alone (which can be a challenge in medical situations). However, most doctors and dentists have been very receptive when I ask them to leave me alone for 10 minutes before they start anything (like drilling or IVs or such).
Anything that can help you relax and place your mind elsewhere, is very helpful in dealing with OHS before and after. It helps the pain and stress.
I hope you are doing OK.
Smiles, :)

Sethgold,
I found that listening to my favorite upbeat music helped me out alot. I brought my CDs to the hospital and listened to them when I couldn't sleep at nite.

Guided Imagery

I did not have this particular tape, but I did listen to a relaxation tape at home beforehand as well as in the hospital, and I found it very helpful
