I have been walking around every day and doing mostly house walking (lots of short walks around), and a little bit of outside walking. But today I planned a 1 mile walk outside and allotted 30 minutes for it. Wife strapped the baby on and we drove to a nearby area where we like to stroll around. Time flew by and I did not even look at the watch.
About 52 minutes later we were getting in the car to go back home (I ride in the back seat and hide away from danger). I was not very tired and did not even think much about the walk, the time outside was satisfactory, and my only complaint would be the feeling cold. Yes, like most of you post-op, some of the drugs make me feel very cold alot.
I used an iPhone app to track the steps and here is what today looked like: http://runkeeper.com/user/448632934/activity/79025920 Yup, it was 2 miles even and we did it in about 52 minutes, this includes a stop for some coffee. I was craving some, so we got some decaf with whole milk.
I am not bragging by any means, I just wanted to share with my online VR friends and family and say that when you choose activities to help you rehab back, make sure they are fun, with family or friends and always take breaks when you feel a little tired.
This is day 5 post-op for me, at this point I am pretty sure the anestesia wore-off, I feel my whole body (and boy does it hurt), and given that my pain killers are 1 x Tylenol3 every 4 hours, I feel hopeful that this is a a great beginning to a good recovery.
I have a post in making about some things that are not so great, but on here I want to share the things that you helped me achieve and I will keep on trying to do better. Slowly and gradually, we are going to get stronger and healthier.
