Hi All,

Tomorrow is 10 years since my aortic valve was replaced with human tissue and even though it's giving up the ghost, it's done me very well. To my valve, the person who made it available and my surgeon THANK YOU.

Phil.

Phil, ten years seems reasonably good. I know you were expecting a few more but at least ten has to be on the high side of how long tissue values would last in a 40 something.

If I remember correctly you have an appointment soon to discuss whether it truly is shot or not, or have you already had this.

Hi Fundy,

You are right I was hoping for more, but I now know 10 years is pretty good. I see my surgeon next Monday and have an ECHO as well. I very much hope he gives me a date, but understand he may say hold off and come back in 6 months. I really want to get out of the waiting room, so hope this is not the outcome. Glad to hear you seem to be going well and have made a good recovery.

Take care.

Phil.

Phil,

A belated happy 10th anniversary with your valve. I am sure it is bittersweet celebrating this valversary knowing it will be time to get a new valve sooner than later.

10 years from a tissue is not bad at all. Have you been shopping mechanical valves yet? So many interesting choices, we have STJ Regent, On-X, Carbomedics, etc. Either way, happy 10th anniversary and to many many decades more regardless of replacement choice.

Hi Vadim,

Thanks. See surgeon next Monday where I hope valve shopping will be the order of the day. Equally, I need to be prepared for him to say ...wait. Good luck tomorrow - will be thinking of you.

P.
