Hi Folks,
Yep, today is the one year mark since open heart surgery to replace my BAV with a mechanical valve.
All the issues with my heart that I had due to the BAV all resolved with the mech valve. My life returned to 'normal' pretty quick after OHS, I'd say about 5-6 weeks post I felt my normal self again, especially when I had that first beer
What's different?
- I train 4-5 days a week at the Gym with no weight restrictions anymore
- I feel like I get through my training easier than before with my BAV which was severely leaking
- INR, yes I test once a week now and have made slight adjustments here and there. It's easy!
- Oh yes, the ticking of the valve. I actually don't mind it, it gives me comfort.
OHS doesn't really enter my mind now, but I do look back sometimes and reflect how well I did and how grateful I am of the medical professionals.
This forum and certain members also really helped leading up to OHS and post recovery.
For now, I'll see you in another year
