As of now, it looks like I will be there, along with Gina (VR) and Lorraine (VR), to scout out places for our ValveReplacement/Adult Congenital Heart Association Chicagoland Mini-Reunion, September 6, 2008.

I'm told these are ideal locations. Since I'm a resident of Kane County, I can make FREE reservations for the group for the September gathering. (I know because I have reserved the Paul Wolff Shelter at the Burnidge-Paul Wolff Forest Preserve just west of Elgin for a multi-group gathering of car clubs in July.)

If I'm not mistaken, the windmill park DOES have access to the Fox River.... It's been a while since I've been down into that park (just drive by the windmill sometimes), but I'm pretty sure we'd have access to the Fox River. We'll find out for sure, though, won't we?

Hmmm...if you're traveling from Bartlett, you may be closer to Hot Rod Harry than I would be....I think....maybe not?

Sorry I haven't been part of the posts. I was gone for half a week and then been busy coordinating exams. I will be there Sunday.

I too almost cancelled this gathering because a friend of mine who located me through classmates.com about 4 years ago, is getting married and invited me to her shower. We already had our vr.com plans made, so I just told her I wouldn't be there, but I will be at her wedding. She understood as she knows how much vr.com means to me.

Windmill Park sounds like a good place. Sunday isn't going to be as nice as it was this past weekend,but at least we won't be shivering.

Thanks for getting it all coordinated for our gathering. I just plan to take Rt 31 all the way down. I did a map search and it had me going out to Randall. If I recall correctly that restaurant is between Rt 31 and Rt 25. See you all Sunday.

Except ... I don't know if I can reserve the forest preserve place 2 days in a row. I know I couldn't for the car-related gathering in July.... We'll see, though!

IDEA:

Move the September VR/ACHA Mini-Reunion to a week later, September 13 (rain date September 14). This way ... we can have the gathering start at noon, then, those who wish, can travel to Sandwich IL (~ an hour SW of St Charles/Geneva) for the CHD Golf Outing dinner. Thoughts?

Have not seen too much (posted) interest for the Sept picnic. I think we should poll to see if anyone is really interested? If it is just a handful of us, we could just meet @ the Windmill!
