7 days post op and home.

Take it one day at a time. Do your walks, eat and rest. I found binging tv helped pass the time, even if I couldn't remember what I watched lol

INR - How low should you go?

I was curious on this as well as I recieved my ON-X back in June 2024. My surgeron gave me the 1.5-2 range in my consult but when I asked my Cardiologist he said I would be in the 2-3 range for life. When I inquired about the "marketed" range the surgeon gave me he said it was just that, marketing.

New to BAV! Advice? (Marijuana use?)

Yeah, shoulda clairfied when I said vape I was doing the dry herb style vaporizer. Best way in my own research to smoke health wise. But again no smoke/vape is the best thing to do for everyone with a heart condition

New to BAV! Advice? (Marijuana use?)

I was a daily vape user before my surgery. I also have BAV. Like you I had trouble finding studies on wether weed use was ok. Long story short no amount of smoke/vape smoke you inhale is going to help your heart, especially when you have a heart condition. Edibles cut off the smoke equation...

    Lifting Weights after Surgery

Bit late to this thread but I was wondering the same thing. When I asked my surgeon when he came by my bedside he advised to wait 6 months post surgery before trying to lift weights and to keep it very light when I eventually do go back to the gym. Obviously he (and everyone else) advised to...

    How often are we testing?

Doc had me test every 2-3 days while I was fresh off the surgeons table and my INR was going up and down. Now that I'm in range its weekly testing for me.

    Day 4 post-op and feeling 😎

Glad to hear it went well and theres no pain! As tjay mentioned I also just had my operation there (was discharged after 6 days I believe). You must be so glad to be free from those beds, I know I was. I assume you were staying in the cardiac ward too (floor 5 I believe?). My stay was...

    Self dosing question

Well INR is still out of range, tested at 1.8 today. And that was with my increasing my dosage to 6mg for the past few days. Bumped todays up to 7mg and will wait to see what the doctor says. Kinda getting a bit worried as I've been out of range for 8 days now, but I do have an On-x valve so...

    Self dosing question

Hi all, My INR during my hopsital stay a week ago was all within the 2-3 target range. I have been on 5mg per day. After being discharged my readings went from 2.9 > 2.4 > 1.7 and just today at 1.6. My doctor advised me after the 1.7 reading that if the next reading was below 2 again then he...

    10 Days Post Op

Well just hit the 10th day since they sliced me open and put in my mechanical bentall. Thought I'd give a bit of an update as when I was reading the form I appreciated seeing other users experiences. A lot of people would always mention the breathing tube coming out as being a pain point but I...

    Surgery coming up next week

Well its finally my turn to get cracked open lol. Scheduled to have my mechanical bentall operation next Wed. I used to be super anxious getting this surgery done, and while I still am somewhat, my body is for sure in desperate need of it. I'm looking forward not to be out of breath after...

    Severe Regurgitation and Blood Pressure

No stenosis just the regurgiation. These days I'm feeling pretty crappy. Got no energy any more and the simpliest of walks are putting me out of breath. Also my chest feels like someone is lightly grabbing/squeezing my heart. My surgery is hopefully in 2 weeks though!

    Awake and recovering

Damn, feel like thats a super quick return to work, hopefully you don't feel obligated that you have to return to work that quickly. My surgeon said around a 6-8 week return to work for me post surgery (I also work a remote desk/computer job). Let me know how returning to work goes, and please...

    Mechanical Bentall Resources

Glad recovery is going well! Totally on the same mind set of having a one and done operation, and I'm glad what you and Chuck said about life expectancy not really being impacted. I think my main problem, like Chuck mentioned was that most of the studies out there are using data from paitents...

    Severe Regurgitation and Blood Pressure

Yeah these are all measurements at home. Went to doctor today and had around the same readings (165-170/62-64). He wants to look at my blood work before prescribing me anything. Mentioned that he doesn't want the bottom number to drop too much or else I'll likely be fainting. So he's only is...

    Severe Regurgitation and Blood Pressure

Hi all, I'm currently awaiting surgery via Bentall procedure (should be in a month). I know that I have severe regurgiation and my high blood pressure is what led me to discover that I'm apart of the BAV club. Lately I've noticed that my BP has gone from an average of 155/62 to an average of...
