    Two best friends during recovery

I'll have to follow Paleogirl's prompt - my best friend was my wife for basically the same reasons. She took time off work, made me food, helped me get as comfortable as she could, got my coaching friends to visit when I was feeling low, etc, etc, etc

    Two best friends during recovery

Aside from the experiences that everyone goes through, I found two things that were very helpful during my recovery. 1. Lazy Boy Recliner When I first got home I could not lie flat without great uneasiness and discomfort. I am normally a stomach/side sleeper. No matter how many pillows I...

    Post-op Question?

How difficult is walking stairs when you first get home after surgery? I just brought the recliner home this evening in preparation for my June 2nd surgery. Unsure whether to set up camp on first floor or second floor? Just how tough is it to climb stairs?

    First meeting with surgeon

Met with my surgeon on Friday. It was a very positive meeting and many of my questions were answered. I will have to have aortic valve replaced and ascending aorta replaced with dacron graft - but not yet. Numbers don't indicate its time for surgery yet. So, I will have a CT scan done in...

    First meeting with surgeon

OK, I've got my first meeting scheduled with the surgeon in two weeks As of my last test, I had ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm of 4.5cm, Aortic Valve Area .9cm2, Peak Gradient 40mmHg, Mean Gradient 24 mmHg. Besides the obvious question of "When do I get this done?", what other questions...
