I hope you feel better soon! My husband felt pretty decent at 6 months post-op. I would consider another opinion on why you are still feeling so poor. Have they ruled out infection? I seem to recall one of our members becoming very sick after having kidney issues.
Take care,
Ann
Hello and welcome :)
Your story hits very close to home. It was my husband facing similar situation in 9/2005 when he was 34 years old for replacement of his BAV. His father was a heart transplant recipiant at 46 year old (cardiomyopathy). I am an OR nurse as well, SFA. Having worked...
My husband will have a beer or glass of wine a few nights a week, and has on occaison over induldged :rolleyes: On a cruise in 2006, we split a bottle wine at dinner, and WOW :eek: that was fun....but just that once, hehe....
I voted for my husband. He started to have migranes as a child, starting with a migrane aura he described as like looking through a kaleidescope, followed by the severe headache and nausea. His only way of coping when he was a child was to sit in a very dark room. His migranes were able to...
You do know your Starbucks Marguerite :) I adore my Sumantra whole bean coffee, but my little 12 oz bags have gone from around $6.50 per bag to $7.7 if I am lucky at Target (usually at least $9.00) in the last few months. We drink one bag every 5 days or so, and I am looking for ways to try...
Like Ross has mentioned, the key we learned his to have my husband self dose. It was becoming a bit of a nightmare when the coumadin clinic was trying to set up doses with only combinations of 5mg tablets because that was all the computer program offered :eek: oh yes, and because he may mix up...
It sounds like you have made some progress by getting in sooner with your current symptoms! Progress is excellent!
I can totally (well, not exactly with five kiddies, but two very busy ones, lol) understand where you are coming from. I could share stories, but they are not mine alone to...
They Mayo Clinic has some housing options and help for those needing to travel. I would still give them a call and explain your situation if you are interested. My father-in-law, a heart transplant recipiant, was also doctoring at the Mayo and my mother-in-law rented a cute little apartment...
Hello, and Welcome :)
We are in Northern Minnesota and my husband doctored at Mayo Clinic Rochester following acute complications at another hospital.
Keep us posted on how you are doing!
Nathan's cardio at his endocarditis follow-up/AVR pre-op appt:
"Lets get it done, and life goes on...." simple words, that we kind of grabbed on to, and held. And we reflected now a few years afterward, how true. Life has gone on. We never would have believed it at that time. Our life was...
Hi!
My husband's symptoms with bacterial endoarditis 2005;
Roaming muscle pains-moderately painful, little stabs in the calves, thighs and arms;
Increasing fatigue over an 8 week period;
Night sweats-soaking the sheets followed by vigorous shaking;
Vision took on a red hue-this became...
Quick snack!
Quick snack!
I don't know if this works as a Throw Down, but this is one of the few things I make quick:
1 loaf pre-sliced Italian bread
2-3 vine ripe tomatos
2 (or more) garlic cloves (I mince w/garlic press)
4-5 leaves fresh basil, rippped in small pieces
1/2 C Shredded Romano...
Hellow from Nathan and family. I am not sure where to post this, so Ross; Please feel free to move where you see fit. We had alot of snow in late April here in Northern Minnesota. If the pics loaded right, that is Nathan shoveling the roof of the garage. Much more fun to be mowin' :)
June...
Using an icepack while applying pressure at the onset of the nosebleed is extremely helpful. My mom had problematic nosebleeds and she started to run a humidifier while sleeping and applying a petroleum based ointment inside the nostrils to be very helpful.
What testing have you had?
Bacterial endocarditis is nothing to mess around with, as it can cause vegatations of the valve which can break loose and lodge in a blood vessel, causing strokes and death. My husband was sick for 6 weeks with low grade fevers, night sweats, blurred vision and...
My husband has had lab draws within a half hour of his INRatio testing, and it has always been +/- .5. We can relate to dosage changing-his coumadin clinic only believed in giving out 5 mg tablets and dosing according to how you can split them up (and that is what their computer program is...
