    Infection?

Thanks Pellicle, I've called a few dentists already and was told that there are special precautions to be taken when someone is on Warfarin. That's one of the questions I'll have for the cardiologist on Tuesday .

    Infection?

While I was in the hospital pre op, the Dr.'s put me on a antibiotic as a prevention. A few weeks earlier, I had a tooth break. Small pieces of the tooth were still in my gum, and I didn't get to the dentist yet. I was told the antibiotic would kill any infection which may come up...

    mechanical or biological?

Joey BAV, Thanks. It seems like the getting around part is already happening. Never in my wildest dreams would I think that I'd be this far in recovery only 6 days after surgery. Still a long way to go , like no driving for 6 weeks, no work for 8 weeks, probably longer because of the work...

    mechanical or biological?

Thanks everyone , I'm thinking on the same lines of Seeker. My wife has been sleeping on a tiny couch in the hospital ,next to me for almost a week now. I have 3 brothers and a sister. They shouldn't have to go through this again either. That's another reason for my choice. The...

Pellicle, I hope that the third one is the last for you as well. I will definitely be back after the surgery. This forum is great. As far as learning how to take my medication, I'm sure that the Dr's will give me information, but I would prefer to hear first hand from members of the...

    Worried sick

They are recommending a TAVR. But from what I'm reading, this surgery is usually done on patients , being elderly 80+ or low risk recovery patients. Thanks for this forum, I learn a lot and am able to question the doctors.

Thanks, I'm not really sure why they elected the non envasivive surgery . but I sure will have a lot of questions. Does anyone know if this non invasive surgery can be done more than once? Not that I'd like that, But would like to just know. Thanks

    Worried sick

while visiting my heart dr. Last week, I was told I was very fortunate to be able to have non invasive surgery to replace my aortic valve. After doing research on the Internet , I'm reading that this surgery is for people who might not survive typical open heart surgery . As in low to...

    Aortic Stenosis

Dick0236, We had no idea about the out of pocket max. according to the Cigna website, the annual max out of pocket limit is 6350.00. That changes everything . My wife and I were already talking about getting a huge loan to pay our cost. Thanks so much for that info.
