    since surgery i had first echo 4 days after surgery 2nd at 6months 3rd at 12months 4th at 18 months now i have been discharged to 5 yearly checks refered by my gp prior to surgery only had one echo at 21 when i was told i had mvp then nothing till things went downhill at 45

    i was weight training between 3 and 5 times a week just done lighter weight more reps 10-15 instead of 6-8 and on cross trainer 45 mins a day right up till 2 days before my mitral valve repair my doctor advised i should try and keep my heart rate under 126

    Full Sternal Opening.....

    i have no sternum pain or problems and i am now back on the weights, bench pressing a reasonable 80kgs , the only thing i do get when training is a sensation like an elecric shock in my back near my right trap , probaly a nerve ! but thats it my crack open was oct 2009

    Post surgery valve leak (regurgitation)?

    i agree with Al i had mv repair and have had 2 echos post op one at 4 days another at 6 months and the next is sheduled for april next year and will continue then anually from then on

    Cardiac Rehab...is it really that helpful?

    i had cardio rehab and would highly recomend it , its good to know you are being guided through the recovery doing the right amount for you,we had an hour of exercise and an hour of a talk very informative also gives you a chance to compare where you are on the recovery with others on the program
