    mitral stenosis and tiring easily

Thanks. I hope they can use that same procedure on you again. Glad it is not affecting your daily life right now. That's great news. I've lost 2 of my 22lbs already. It won't be hard to take off. I just had to find the motivation. I think these symptoms are motivation enough. Haha. Hope all...

    mitral stenosis and tiring easily

Dornole. Thanks for that info. Is yours an artificial mitral valve too? Mine is a 25mm St. Judes. Curious what yours is. My echo from 2013 and 2014 put the gradient at 10, but this last one said 8. I know their numbers can differ. My cardiologist did not say anything about losing weight. I just...

    Wheezing upon exertion

Had a great visit with my Cardiologist. He explained things to me and answered all my questions. My artificial mitral valve has been too small for several years. They have been letting it slide since I was asymptomatic. Now that I have symptoms, they are following me closer. I'll go in every 6...

    mitral stenosis and tiring easily

They bumped my appointment up, so I saw my cardiologist Wednesday. His tests showed that my mean pressure gradient is currently 8. He said it should be 3-4. He explained that my valve is too small and needs to be replaced with a larger one. I've had this one for 24 years, since the age of 13. He...

Here we go. 7th open heart surgery @ Mayo Clinic April 26th

Hope everything went well and the recovery was a breeze! I had a brain surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota in 2002. That is a great place to be. Praying you had a great experience too.

    Prosthetic Mitral Valves

I have had a great time with my mechanical mitral valve. I also had endocarditis and spent 58 days in the hospital at 2 years old. My valve was also destroyed. They replaced it with an artificial one. I had that one until age 13 when they replaced it with an adult size artificial valve. I am now...

    Wheezing upon exertion

Edit: I have only had this valve for a little under 24 years. I had a smaller one implanted in 1982, but it has since been replaced with the one I currently have. This one is a St. judes.

    Wheezing upon exertion

Hi all, I am looking to hear some of your symptoms when waiting for heart surgery. I already have an artificial mitral valve that I've had for 35 years. My new cardiologist thinks I will need it replaced someday. I am in mitral stenosis and have diastolic dysfunction. My cardio has never...

Feel a rush of blood pump into my chest when I lift weights

I hope someone can give you some answers. Telling your symptoms to your cardiologist is probably your best bet. I say go with your gut. If your gut it telling you to slow down with the lifting, then slow down. I don't have any personal insight though. Good luck.

    Staying the Course -- 07-24-2017

Good job everyone! I'm a newbie on this thread and hope to check in regularly. Just starting to get back into exercising after a 2 year hiatus while raising my little ones. They will turn 5 and 10 next week, so I am able to have a little more time for exercising. Big birthday party for both of...

    Softball to the head

Agian, I had bacterial endocarditis when I was 2 and had to have my mitral valve replaced. They replaced the mechanical one with an adult sized mechanical valve when I was 13. I'm 37 now, so I've been taking Coumadin for as long as I can remember. Kinda makes it nice, because it just seems...

    mitral stenosis and tiring easily

Thank you so much ottagal. I've decided that stress and thinking about it is making my symptoms worse. I'm using this stress to force myself to get back into exercising on a regular basis. a friend teaches a boot camp exercise class that I quit going to 2 years ago. I am starting back next week...

    Softball to the head

Agian, sorry for taking so long to respond. I wish I can email notifications. I've been on Coumadin for 35 years..since I was 2 years old. I was ok from the softball. Had a small bruise for 3 weeks, but no other issues. Mainframe: thank you for your response too. Very interesting. Glad you...

    mitral stenosis and tiring easily

I found something online that says 2.5mmHg +/-1. That doesn't make sense to me since I am at 10mmHg. At least my yearly appt is in 3 months. I'll let the Dr. know of my symptoms and go from there.

    Severity of stenosis

Sounds like you've received some very good answers from some members. I second the advice of asking questions until you are satisfied. Also, if you are concerned, make sure you tell the Dr. all your symptoms, if you are symptomatic. Sometimes I think they put more emphasis on if you are...
