2 Years with my St. Jude Mechanical

Congratulations on your anniversary! I went with a tissue valve in 2015 but I've since read more personal stories, like yours, that have made me less concerned about INR self-testing. Thanks for sharing~

I’m so sorry to hear that you are dealing with another issue. Sending prayers your way that the pain subsides today and you have a great checkup. May I ask what you were doing to protect your home? Your part of the country has been in for a real rough spell lately.

    Looking for some advice

I went to a cardiologist in May 2015 because of shortness of breath. My EKG was fine; the echo showed stenosis, which showed to be moderate to severe in a follow up TEE. I had AVR surgery in September of that year though my cardio said I had about a year till replacement was needed.

    Recent BAV Diagnosis

gatorbait, welcome to the forum. Like you I received much comfort and encouragement from the folks here when I was a newbie. As to your case, I second what dick wrote: you have years to go before surgery is needed so don't become overly worried. Follow your cardio' advice about the weights, take...

I know what you mean by the group setting, Steve. I went to my line dance class last Thursday after 5 weeks and it was a blast. Laughed my butt off. SB, wish I had one of those shirts! Congrats on the healing. You sound more upbeat than you have in a while. I’m in San Francisco today on a...

Checking in. I can repOrt that I'm doing good checking my glucose levels and keeping them under control. Knowing that I must check them has me paying closer attention to what I put in my mouth. My bro sent me cookies again this year before I remembered that I wanted him to skip the generous...

    Pills, pills, and pills

Guess I haven't thought much about it, Fred. I've taken an antidepressant and anti-anxiety pill for almost 30 years. In the last 10 years or so doctors added medication for cholesterol, GERD, high blood sugar, and underactive thyroid. Post OHS I take a beta blocker. I alsways took a baby aspirin...

Superbob , how is the mobility in you hand? Any problems gripping things? Is it still painful or more of an annoyance at this point? This morning I got a sudden pain in my hip, like a pinched nerve, and hobbled around for an hour till it worked itself out. Martin, isn't most of preparing for...

Lower left ventricle ejection fraction post valve replacement

Welcome to the forum. I can't speak directly to your issue but want to let you know you will find great support here. I think many folks are into the holiday swing of things so responses may be slow in coming. On the Staying the Course thread I gave a shoutout because the usual posters hadn't...

Glad to hear you and DW are on the mend. Keeping fingers crossed there are no relapses and that the WS40 syrup does the trick. Though not the same as a medical grade device, there are home vaporizers you can purchase. I remember my mother cranking up a big one when we kids were congested and...

Yes, Anne, I was given one three years ago but never used it. Today I bought fresh strips for it the the meter didn't read the sample. I'm looking into getting a new one.

Paleowoman, thanks for the update. My resting HR was around 100 post op, down only slightly from pre-op. I don't check it myself. My BP has been fine at checkups in October. I'm on a beta blocker. Jwinter, I'm so sorry you have so much to deal with. Our hope is that surgery will put things...
