Would you still use an INRATIO II?

I did the comparison test, and my Coagucheck gave me a 3.4, my Inratio II said 2.7 and the blood draw from the lab said 2.8. The difference between the lab and the Coagucheck is in the ballpark to previous tests. I tested both my meters from the same finger, I just used one side for one meter...

    Coumadin and alchohol

I have my own meter, and have tested myself before and then after drinking, and didn't notice any change. That is my result, and you should obviously find your own results, as everyone handles things differently.

Would you still use an INRATIO II?

I actually logged in to report that I have recently gotten some more strips for my Inratio II. My first comparison test between my Inratio II and my Coagucheck XS went as I assumed they would . The Coagucheck XS tested 3.0 and my Inratio tested 2.6. The lab results from past comparisons...

    JOB STRESS and INR...

I have to agree completely with Pellicle. I have been on warfarin the same amount of time you have, and I have a record of every INR test since my first test. I also self test, with everything paid out of pocket, and it really is not a big deal.

    Saw Palmetto interaction with Warfarin

I have gotten a lot of very useful information from both of you, so I can actually contribute something. I too use myself as a lab rat. I started on saw palmetto about a year ago, and I noticed no difference at all. Then again, I don't notice any difference if I am on amoxicillin either. I also...

    INRATIO test strips

I kept my InRatio in hopes that the strips would again become available. My InRatio was much more accurate than my Coagucheck XS, but the newest strips I got a couple months ago are better, but still not as good as the worst lot of strips from my InRatio. I just did another comparison test this...

    Food diary.....do you use one?

I should have added that I don't care for the vegetables that are high in vitamin K, so now I have an excuse to not eat them.

    Food diary.....do you use one?

LOL! That is exactly what I do also. No more than that. I eat what I want, when I want, and I test myself weekly. After 3 years, warfarin is nothing more than a pill in the morning that I never used to have to take. It has made no other changes in my life.

Very high INR on home test, looking for input

I myself would go to the lab for a blood draw first thing in the morning, just to make sure the reading was correct, then adjust the dose.

    Coaguchek XS Plus -- Kaput

I purchased a Coaguchek XS around June, or July, and so far I am disappointed with the accuracy. My Inratio 2 was much closer to lab tests. I did find that different lots of strips gave different results. Maybe the Coagucheck will be the same.

    Lowering Warfarin dosage through diet/supplements?

I have also noticed that the more active I am, the more warfarin I need. I don't have a problem with the varying dosage, because taking too little can end my way of life. I am not ready to stop being active, so I take what is needed by my body.

    Alere Hione Monitoring

I had three strips left, and I couldn't find anyone to sell me more so I bought a Coagucheck XS off eBay. I bought this out of pocket. My doctor gave me a prescription for self monitoring, but my insurance company turned me down. I didn't like having to spend the money again after only two years...

Coumadin dosages - spread out increases or do all in one day?

I have similar problems with my "INR clinic" and my gp. My regular doctor is in full agreement with my management of my inr and dosage, after I told him I have a vested interest in my levels. The clinic doesn't think I can handle it, but I am also one of their youngest patients, at age 50. A...

    Being carefree again

I knew about my valve problems over 20 years before my surgery. I chose to live my life as if I wouldn't survive the surgery, so I feel as though I am now on "bonus time". I really did live as though my surgery was the end. That may not help you, but it bothered me for a lot of years that they...

    Bacterial Endocarditis post op

I was never given that regimen, but I do that also. I have read enough about it to know that I never want to get it. When I was being discharged, the doctor kept saying things about oral health, and being consistent with my diet, including drinking.

    Costs and other Basics?

I agree with the posts here. I do a monthly to 6 week lab test, but mostly to humor the coag clinic. There is so much experience here that you can learn from, and the people at your clinic are not taking warfarin. I told my doctor that I have a vested interest in my INR, and he replied that he...

Which Mechanical Valve produces the lowest number of bloodclots?

Well, my surgeon used a St. Judes, and I found him to be very (almost overly) conservative. But he has an excellent success rate. The nurses also said he was conservative, leaving drain tubes in an extra day, etc. With the reading I have done, I like what I see about the OnyX, but I do trust his...

Valve Choice for 33 Year Old: Mechanical VS HomoGraft vs Ross?

I found out about my defective aortic valve when I was 25, so I started taking care of myself and eating better starting then. I wanted to go into surgery in good shape to help with recovery. When my cardiologist told me two and a half years ago that it was time, I went in in good shape. I never...

accuracy, standards and INR meter design

My last lab testing from a week and a half ago, the lab blood draw was 2.8, my Inratio 2 said 3.2, and the labs new Inratio2 said 3.6. They have to do a bunch of testing comparing their Inratio 2 to blood draws, so I let them stick me. They were thankful, and I got more data.

    Watch it!!!

I should probably start a new thread on this, but I have kept every INR test result from the first test after my surgery. My clinic is also one that seems to think everyones range should be 2.0 to 3.0. I am 2.5 to 3.5 on my surgeons recommendation. I do monthly blood tests to humor my clinic...
