Hello, new member here....and question on searching for surgeons.

1.8 and 30. Ha! That's just a lil' bit. Enjoy, ride, and prosper. Listen to your body, and know that this disease progresses on its own. Exercises does not make it worse (there no research showing that), time and randomness do. My, unprofessional, opinion is to find a better cardiologist...

    When to return to work?

If it's a desk job and you can comfortably sit, stand, and walk at least a mile - I'd say 3 weeks post OP is pretty safe. Assuming you do not need to drive and someone can drive you in the back seat, till you are cleared to drive yourself.

26 year old playing sports on Warfarin

Avoid crazy head butts and you should be fine. I did not give up my sport before or after. Training as hard and intense as ever.

Good luck on Monday. Being in decent physical shape really helps out with accelerated recovery.

How many of you chose your valve type based on what others on here went with?

I knew I wanted a mechanical valve to minimize the re-surgery risk. Coumadin, did not seem like much of a risk when monitored. Liked the idea of On-X, but would have settled for ATS or St. Jude as well. Chose on-x in the end.

    made it

I told my doctors of plans of an accelerated recovery. In addition I kept them up to-date with my activities. Best advice I got was take a step back when you are pushing it, and you will know when you are pushing it. I agree, in several weeks everything will feel like a distant memory and...

Exercise and stress with Aortic Aneurysm

I bookmarked this post for a comment later. ;) I can tell you first hand that recovery would be in large up to how hard you try. I have gained and rebuilt most of my muscle and strength by end of month 4. At 6 months post surgery I was competing again. There are not nearly enough studies on...
